Newbie needs help with new construction home
Hi guys,
I could really use some advice. We're just completing construction of a new home. I had them run cable from the attic to a distribution box in the basement. I have cable going to 3 rooms from there. I am going to mount antenna(s) in the attic of my 2 story house. I am locked into the attic installation despite the signal degradation I realize that causes. The house has common vinyl siding and shingle roof. On a positive note, it is a big attic area with room for any size/multiple antennas so this doesn't limit my antenna choices. The terrain out the front of the house (which directly faces the East) is open and flat with a neighborhood across the street 400 or 500 feet away. The North, West, and South have flat terrain but some tall trees (up to 100 feet tall) that serve as a signal obstruction. I would basically like to get as many channels as possible given the limitations of the attic install and trees and I'm willing to employ multiple antennas, combiners, pre-amps, etc. However, I need a solid recommendation of what combination of antennas and equipment would be good fit. Thanks for any help you can provide. Troy Here is my tvfool report link: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9900f7ce7a846e |
Tv Reception.
Many , many , many , many , Tv stations/channels will be received.
Aim a Winegard HD7696P antenna at about 120 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Install a Channel Master CM3414 distribution amplifier. Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.channelmasterstore.com. |
Would the Winegard HD7697P instead of the HD7696P be just as good?
I want to buy through Amazon since I buy a lot there, get 2 day shipping, and they have very good return policies in case something is damaged/broken. They don't appear to directly sell the HD7696P. |
A small inconspicuous antenna like the RCA ANT-751 mounted outside would be a better choice if at all possible. Unfortunately attic reception reliability is a crap shoot & more prone to signal interruptions.
If you do get a Winegard antenna, be advised that once unfolded, the antenna is extremely difficult/nearly impossible to fold back up without damage. |
