Looking for VHF reception
 

I am looking to receive the following VHF channels. Channels 2, 5, 7, 11, and 13. I already get the UHF channels with a 4 bay UHF ( from true 164).

The two channels that are most important to me are channels 2 and 13 from true 312 and true 308. Is this possible?

Mount a Winegard HD7084P all channel antenna aimed to 300 degrees magnetic.

Combind this antenna with your 4 Bay with a U/V combinder into one coax.

If any post come in with a recommendation of good all VHF only antenna come in, go for it. The UHF section of the 7084 will be blocked by the U/V combinder.

These Tv transmissions listed below are Very Weak , The best antenna for reception is the Winegard HD5030 VHF antenna.

K06PG-D Real channel 6 , PBS.

KSNV-DT Real channel 2 , NBC and Untamed Sports and Antenna Tv.

KLAS-DT Real channel 7 , CBS.

Connect the HD5030 antenna and the UHF 4 bay antenna together with a UVSJ = UHF/VHF Separator/Joiner.
Type UVSJ in the solidsignal search box.

The HD5030 is connected to the VHF connection and the UHF antenna is connected UHF connection of the UVSJ.

Connect a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp to the remaining connection of the UVSJ.

The output of the CPA-19 goes to the Tv/s.

For one Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv,s connected use a , http://www.hollandelectronics.com , also available at http://www.solidsignal.com.

HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a

HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a

HFS-4D , 4 way splitter.

Thse splitters are power passing splitters so the preamp will get power through the splitter.

Please make a second tvfool radar post at 60 feet antenna height to see if the signal strengths improve.

The Tv transmissions are very weak. The only way to find out if reception is reliable is to do the install and see.

As always the starting aim direction of a antenna is -> the starting aim direction of a antenna.

The HD5030 can be turned to find a aim direction with the best reception.

For your reception situation about 240 to about 320 degree magnetic compass or so.

Please provide a tvfoolreport with the antenna at 60 feet to see if signal strength gets better.

How tolerant of failure are you? If you have a few dollars to spare, and enjoy a challenge, go for it.

The signals from real CH-2 and CH-13 (KSNV & KTNV) are blocked by mountains north and west of Kingman. You could install a Winegard HD8200U and get lucky... but the numbers in your report indicate you could easily end up with no reception or only intermittent reception of the VHF signals shown.

I'll have to also chime in on the "try it and see if you get lucky" camp.

It's worth a shot to give the HD5030 a try, but I wouldn't expect anything close to reliable reception unless a miracle occurs.

Please provide the 60 foot antenna height to see if signal strength improves.

The HD5030 can be moved , up and down , forward and backward , right and left , to find a signal hot spot.

I am told the HOA will not allow an antenna more than 12' above the roof.
That would be 37' in my case. Here is that plot.

The Hoa can allow any height , it is a choice that you and the Hoa would make.

The Federal Antenna Law is written as , 12 feet above the highest part the roof is your wright , and above that it is what you and the Hoa work out.

Even so there is no increase of signal strength going higher the then 30 feet so 20 or 30 feet it is.
