A Little Help with Signal Strength
Hey Guys, I currently live in Franklin,IN. I am trying to get the ABC feed in Louisville,KY WHAS. It is around 78 miles from my house. I can get the CBS feed from Louisville just not the ABC like I want to. Can anyone help me out? Im using the Lava HD2805 i just recently purchased. Money is not an issue.
Thanks guys! http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...0b8667637b2ba1 |
You are not going to get a lot of sympathy for your Lava HD2805. These little Chinese-made antennas are sold with grandiose claims at high prices, but are in fact POS. That said, your antenna is a UHF antenna with U-arms to pull-in VHF. However, its sensitivity to VHF is poor. You are able to receive WLKY (RF-26) CBS because it is UHF. You do not receive WHAS (RF-11) ABC because it is VHF. Your Lava HD2805 cannot and will not cut the mustard. You need a real Hi-VHF/UHF antenna.

would you recommend this antenna?

There are others on the forum who can recommend an antenna or combination of antennas in their sleep. That said, given the choice between those two AntennaCraft antennas, I would go with the HBU55. It is a 7-69 (aka Hi-VHF/UHF ) deep fringe antenna. The CCS1843 is a 2-69 (VHF/UHF) deep fringe antenna. If there were any Low-VHF channels anywhere near you, then I would recommend the CCS1843. There aren't. Elements dedicated to Low-VHF in your area are wasted money. The HBU55 is designed to receive the signals that are available to you. If you can receive WLKY with your Lava, then I would expect you to receive WHAS and darned near every other station listed on your TV Fool Radar plot with the HBU55.
