Where do you find a 25 foot mast?
 

I have been poking around here and asking questions. I have received several excellent answers that were very helpful.

However, I see repeated mentions of 25 foot masts, as that seems to be the standard desired height. I think it would be very helpful to have one, but in searching the Internet, I have yet to see one for sale. I have seen 40 foot on up for commercial towers that run in the thousands of dollars, and I know that can't be what I'm looking for. The best I can do otherwise is about 9'.

So... where do I find 25' masts? Or do I just patch one together out of smaller ones?

Is a target number that provides a good evaluation of what Tv stations are receivable.

The 25 foot antenna height above ground is not to low , at ~ 5 ~ 8 feet above ground.

And is not to high , at ~ 40 ~ or more feet above ground.

If you have the DB8 mounted , in some way , above the roof and there is at least some kind of a clear shot to the , north west at about 33 degree magnetic compass direction.

Aim the DB8 antenna at about 33 degree magnetic compass direction.

The best way to evaluate the reception is with 1 Tv connected , no splitter/s , no amplifiers.

The Tv stations are far away and weak signal strength.

Scan for channels in the day time to evaluate what is received.

And scan for channels in the night time about 3 hours or longer after the sun goes down to evaluate what is received.

Return with your evaluations.

Thank you. I think I'm going to try to rig something together that will be a little better than the roof mount mast I am currently using. I think my roof is too steep for it which is making the antenna point a bit skyward. I have a bunch of 10 foot top rails for a chain link fence that I may be able to link together and attach to the house.

If you're going to put a few together w/ those sleeves, don't forget to drill and pin them.
