Please suggest an antenna....

I am very new to this. I am looking to replace cable.

Here is my report:
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...46aeb18652e11a

My details:
  • I can mount the antenna outside
  • I need to split my signal to two TV's
  • Not sure if I need an amplifier
  • Cable runs are about 40 feet to each TV
  • I would like to buy one antenna / nothing too large
  • I have been looking at the antennas and parts on Amazon like a DB4E but not sure if that will pickup VHF or not. Also need a splitter.

Thanks so much for the help.

Install a Terk HDTVi antenna (not HDTVa antenna) in/at a West Facing window or West Facing patio/balcony door window.

Aim the antenna West.

Here is how to aim indoor and outdoor antennas.

http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

A amplifier is not required.

For 1 Tv use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's use a simple common splitter.

If a Long continues length of coax is required to have the antenna in a West facing window / patio/balcony window , and then run through the room or rooms to get to the Tv , Then So Be It.

Window glass / pelxi glass , pass Tv signals Ok.

Other building constructions , such as walls and etc. have more reduction of signal strength.

For More Digital Tv stations/channels and Improved Reliable Reception install a ANT751 antenna above the roof in such a manner that the roof and building are not , obstructing , impeding , blocking , reception in the directions of , North West , West , South West.

A amplifier is not required.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some digital tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for Channels.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative effect on broadcast tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

The Best Practice is to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception.

Mount a ClearStream 2V aimed due west. Use a simple two-port splitter that is suitable for Cable TV service. If you are completely removing cable service, you can likely re-use the existing coax in the home. You do not need nor should you use any amplifiers.

You can pick up everything you need at Walmart or Best Buy.

Thank you for the recommendation. When you say a ClearStream 2V do you mean a ClearStream C2-V-CJM? Thanks

That's the antenna that ADTech was recommending. You have a couple of VHF channels to pull so the added VHF "handlebar" elements are needed for best reception.

Yes, that's the variant that is carried at Walmart and Best Buy. We often have models in various SKUs based on retailer requirements.
