Need Help with picking and antenna and preamp
 

Hi am trying to get real channel 11 and real channel 13 I get real channel 50 41, and 45 with a 4 bay antenna and a radio shack preamp. I have three tvs right now. With a plan to get a dual channel network tuner, so in the end will only have one connection going to the tuner and then it will go to my computer and or tv via my network so i can tvio my tv shows. My plan is to get one antenna to get all the channels what would you recommend? would i need a better preamp?

Others will be along to assist. Those are VHF stations. Do you have the specs on the 4 bay?

Dont know specs on the 4 bay didnt not see any marking on it.

I'd add an Antennacraft Y10713 + RCA TVPRAMP1R to the system as I was removing the Radio Shack amplifier. The RCA amp will have inputs for both antennas and it will have much better noise/distortion performance.

ok this was for a friend of my he really wants one big antenna I orginally mentioned the hd 8200u but now that i think of it the lowest channel on he's report is real channel 11 so he he set on getting one big antenna to do it all what would be the best choice for him? and what preamp would work to best?

If your friend wants a large antenna, the Y10713 is the largest single band high-VHF antenna on the market. Plus, it is the ideal antenna when working weak high-VHF signals. It is also modestly priced as you can find it around 40 to 50 dollars.

I would prefer in this weak signal situation having a two antenna system with one dedicated to each band (uhf and high-vhf). This allows for each antenna to focus on its area of strength.

UHF antennas (what you have in your friend's 4 bay) are capable of capturing enough VHF signal to not necessitate a VHF dedicated antenna. This applies generally to green shaded signals only of good signal strength though. The VHF signals we are discussing are weak enough a dedicated high-VHF beam is the complete way to go.

The RCA preamp is great bang for the buck. Run one myself.

ok will try to convince him to go that way, I also tried to tell him it is cheaper that way and would be better in the winter time with the snow and wind. How much separation should be bewteen the two antennas?
