Advice on Compact Antenna for Hi VHF?
Hello, if anyone has thoughts on a compact, "good-looking" antenna to receive high VHF signals as well as UHF, I would appreciate the advice. A directional antenna would be fine, since all transmitters of interest are in the same direction, and in line of sight. The issue is that the antenna has to be reasonably discreet since we are in a HOA. People have mostly sat dishes here. The antenna mount height at 15 ft, although we could go up a bit higher.

Here is the FCC = Federal Communications Commission , Federal Law that says yes you can install and use outdoor antennas. http://www.fcc.gov/guides/over-air-r...n-devices-rule. This law is in effect since 1996 , thats 15 years. HOA's , housing covenets and etc. , are well aware of this law , yet many keep silent about it thinking that you will not find out and then can put the scam on you , saying you can not have antennas or , ok , but only a real small one , or you have to hide it , or you have to paint it the color of your house. Here is the truth , antennas are not evil. Antennas are good , happy , friendly , handsome , great looking , on the path to free thinking , on the path to true understanding , a statement of understanding , no more cable or satellite tv bills.

Also consider a DB-2 stacked above a Y5-7-13 with a UVSJ to combine them. |
Antennas Direct ClearStream2-V is yet another option.

Wow! Thank You Very Much
Thanks for all the interesting information. I will research these various options. Transmitters are all 35 miles away, so I want to be sure I get a strong enough signal.
I agree that cable and satellite are far too expensive and do not want anything to do with those companies. |
None of the antennas suggested so far will leave you at risk of reception problems due to weak signal levels.
Your report is excellent - Plenty of signal power and no terrain blocking the signal path. Then, to the envy of many OTA viewers, almost all signals are broadcast from the same mountain top. |
