Hello, i'm having problems in my area. I live in a row house. I show to have strong signal to all channels. The channels i'm getting are only CBS and NBC. I never get fox or abc. thanks!!

What are you using for an antenna?

You're so close to the towers that a partially straightened paper clip should be capable of receiving most of the signals.

I have 2 antennas. One is a rectangel with a booster. With that one I get more channels but still not ABC and FOX. The other looks like a mini satellite dish without a booster. With that one I only get CBS. So I get more channels with the booster. Ill send a pic of the antennas if you want one.

Home Depot has , 10 foot 6 inch , 1 and 3/8 inch diameter , TOP RAIL , chain link fence , PIPE , that makes excellent antenna mast/pipe , the price is low at about 12 dollars.

A antenna system amplifier is Not required , do not use or install any type or kind of antenna system amplifier.

Avoid aiming the antenna into trees or any other obstructions in the directions of reception.

The directions of reception are , South West , South , West .

The tvfool radar map shows the Main Group of Tv Stations are to the South West.

To Prove Reception before connecting to a splitter and coaxes that are in/or on the house.

Connect a NEW Continues Length of Coax to the matching transformer (balun) connected to the AC9 antenna and run the NEW Continues Length of Coax through a open door or window - direct to 1 tv.

No couplers.

No ground block couplers.

No splitters.

No antenna system amplifiers.

No nothing.

Because the received Tv signal strengths are so strong at your reception location , a antenna system amplifier of any type or kind can make reception worse , because the amplifier will be over loaded because of the strong signal strengths.

1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , Tv's can be connected with a , 2 way , 3 way , 4 way , 6 way , splitter.

If reception drops to a low level when connecting the antenna to the coaxes and splitter , that are in or on the house.

Then you will be looking for , defective coax/s , defective connector/s , defective connection/s , defective splitter/s , defective device/s , defective etc/s. .

A way to discover defective/s is replace with new.

The antenna and antenna system Must Not be connected to any active part or parts of Cable Tv delivered services , Cable Tv service , Cable delivered internet service , Cable delivered phone service.

It sounds like these are indoor antennas... I'd suggest you try testing reception outdoors using the non-amplified antenna. If your home has metal in the roofing, siding or insulation, your indoor reception may be unacceptable regardless of your choice of antenna.

A Clearstream 2-V is plenty of antenna. Aim it at 213 degrees magnetic compass direction. If the antenna is on the roof, you won't need an amp for at least 2-3 tv's. Those are very strong signals. I am quite jealous of your situation. Also try to be as far away from obstructions as far as you can such as trees or other buildings. You want line of sight so 25' above ground level is good to start. Good luck!

Ok good news I got every channel except the abc affiliate. I did this using my compass. So what's up with abc affiliate? Thanks for the help! Ps we have huge oak trees everywhere. They ain't going anywhere

I would still get a better antenna. An indoor antenna averages 0 db gain while the antenna i recommended gets 10 db aimed correctly. You will get satisfactory reception of abc and all other channels. Indoor antennas are a paperweight to me.

Sounds like a signal quality, multipath issue. A directional antenna solves that issue as it recieves in 70 degree beam width. The clearstream 2-V has a small footprint and includes a vhf dipole. I use that antenna and recieve all networks and 50+ channels.

Ok great ill order it now. Do you mind checking if the specs are optimized for my specific situation? Abc affiliate? My condo is 3 stories and skinny so i cant get on roof put i plan to hang in the attic.

I agree that this is a quality issue. Just like sound waves can be loud while being distorted and therefor hard to understand, or, plagued by echo or added noise, so also hard to understand... Radio waves can be strong, but unusable.

I would lean toward a directional antenna as you suggest. I'd have no guilt suggesting a Winegard HD7694P or Antennacraft HBU-33... due to the amount of trees mentioned.

To the OP, verify that you have no metal foil in the attic, I understand that it's common to find radiant barrier installed in attics in that part of the country. TV signals will have little chance of penetrating the foil layer on most radiant barrier materials.

I will go in the attic tomorrow and report back. Should be fun in the 105 temps :) there are a massive tree canopy around my condo

Do you have any windows facing the SW? Or better, a balcony?

Also, if it were me, I'd put an indoor antenna on a length of RG-6, test reception on your main floor, then bring it into the attic. Or just bring a small tv and the antenna up there with an extension cord.

You may or may not be able to tell what's under the roofing, but if the signals drop to almost nothing up there, it's not looking good for a better antenna up there, either.
