New Antenna in Hemet CA

Yes this is a challenging location, in a valley with Mountains in the distance and quite a ways from major broadcasters. A friend tells me she gets over the air with an indoor antenna. I'm sure I need a much more powerful antenna to get the best reception. Here is my link to the tvfool analysis of my address:

Your help is appreciated. And have a great Christmas

James,
Click on any of the stations in the table of your report and you will see the path profile used by TVFool in generating the signal predictions (transmitter on the left, you on the right.) You'll see that the mountains about 8 miles or so away seriously block your ability to see the Los Angeles stations. In fact, every signal available to you has to scatter over a ridgetop.

It's possible to put a couple of hundred dollars into a deep-fringe antenna system (stacking two high-gain antennas) with a low-noise preamplifier and see a few channels. I'm not confident that you will get the full complement of network affiliates reliably, however.

I agree with Dave L. If reception of "the major broadcasters" means the LA stations, you'll need to use large antennas.

I would expect to see some, but not all of the UHF channels using an Antennas Direct XG91 or Winegard HD9032.

Conditions are a bit better for real channels 7 - 13. Using a Winegard YA1713 or Antennacraft Y-10713 I'd expect you to have a good shot at KTTV, KCOP, KABC, KCAL and a few others if you used a rotator.

Your TV Fool report clearly argues against an indoor antenna installation.

Merry Christmas
