In Dec 2011 you folks helped me with a very successful set up of my first antenna to receive digital TV in this thread... http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=2895

I went to the roof & I could see nothing wrong with the connections or coaxial cable. I used the suggested tape for sealing the connections outside. Do you think water may have still gotten inside? And would that cause me to loose some stations but not others? Thanks. |
You need to confirm that there is no water in the coax. If there is, it often causes trouble for some signals more than others.
When I apply self vulcanizing tape, I also put a couple of layers of regular vinyl electrical tape over the sealing tape. The idea is to keep dirt from sticking, block UV rays and by stretching the vinyl tape as it's applied, compress the sealing tape... adding certainty that it fully seals by bonding to itself and the parts under it. |
Thanks GroundUrMast. I believe it was you that gave me that very advice concerning the tapes when I was getting set up & I did just that.
Is there any way to know if moister in the coax is the problem? Maybe I should just buy another 25' length & see if that solves the problem. |
Substitution with known good parts is often the easiest and least expensive option for consumer grade components.
