Antenna Recommendation
I am new to OTA antennas and would like some opinions on whether I am likely to be able get signal from an antenna in the attic and if so, which one would you recommend??
Here is my location. http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9900eefa2ab62f I would be looking for an antenna to use with: DIRECTV AM21N Off-Air Dual Tuner (AM21) Thanks |
If you have a wood framed roof with composition shingles and no metal, (sheet or foil) that would block the antenna's 'view', then an attic mounted antenna could work. Still, when the roof is wet and especially if loaded with snow, expect more signal loss.
I would try this with an Antennacraft HBU-44 or HBU-55. If you get unreliable reception in the attic, the Antennacraft models are easy to re-fold, making it possible to move them outside without damage. |

House is wood framed with a tile roof. I Live in the desert so very little rain and no snow to deal with. |

For reception with the least amount of situations , I recommend go straight to above the roof.
Install a Winegard HD7696P antenna Above the roof aimed at about 190 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some above the roof antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com. Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box. Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.amazon.com. -->How many Tv locations are/will be connected?? <-- The Tv's or separate tuners Must scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna. Do Not scan for cable tv channels or satellite tv channels. |
The tile roof argues against attic mounting. I concur with Electrons suggestion of the Winegard HD7696P.
