F.M. Antenna for Digital R.F. 6 ?
Finding an antenna capable of low band VHF these days
is pretty tough. Yes, there is the Winegard 7000 but it uses extensions to become a VHF low antenna. It also is pretty poor with UHF, in general. They state it " Ships as a high-band VHF antenna but includes added extensions for low-band VHF for greater versatility." Those extensions are heavy and cause the elements to fail in high winds. Since F.M. radio is analog and television is now digital for the most part, would an F.M. antenna work well for RF 6 ??? In my area, RF 6 is 500 watts ERP and there are several 58 Kw F.M. stations atop the same mountain. Would the radio stations still cause issues even though they are analog? |
If the FM signals are overwhelmingly strong relative to the digital channel 6 signal, the tuner can't sort it out. Nothing you can really do about it easily, depending on the operating frequency(ies) of the FM stations. If the FM frequencies are not too close to the low end of the band, one can filter them.
We discontinued and liquidated remaining inventory of our old 3-element FM antenna awhile back due to low (almost non-existent) sales. It was actually a very decent performer for channel 6. Our FM filter will take out channel 6 also so it won't work as you'd hoped.
If you have no high-VHF channels, then either a UVSJ or HLSJ will work. Otherwise, an HLSJ would be the needed device. You can try a reversed splitter and it might work okay, but it's not the recommended device since we can't predict how the signals will combine in the splitter. |
