Channels 9 and 6 in Colorado

I have had good reception for nearly all channels in Mead, Colorado for nearly 7 months, but it seems something has changed in the last couple of weeks.

I can no longer tune in channels 9.1 and 9.1 or 6.1 and 6.3.

Is anyone aware of any changes or can you provide assistance?http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...8d1756f522bf34

What antenna are you using now ?? . Read and understand this about , Real Digital Tv Channels , Virtual Digital Tv Channels , Analog Tv Channels , http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=695 . Answer the questions that have been ask , not answering any of the questions tells me that something is _______.

The dipole rods on your antenna should be extended so that each rod is about 12 to 14 inches long and the rods should be tilted to be as close to horizontal as possible. The antenna should be facing south, hopefully with a clear view at a window or at least facing an an exterior wall which has no metal in or on it, such as siding or foil faced insulation.

The manual for your antenna indicates it has a built in amplifier which is equipped with a control... I would expect best results when the gain is set to minimum.

Is the building where the antenna is at wrapped with any type or kind of metal such as but not limited to metal siding or stucko with stucko Wire ?? Does the building have a metal roof ?? does the building have brick from ground to roof. Does the building have poured concrete walls ?? Read and understand this about indoor Tv antennas , http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=233 , Here is how to point Tv antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html

Because of the close by mountains to the west and the high degree of multipath reflections off the mountains , I suggest a Winegard HD7694P antenna pointed at about 170 magnetic compass. NO Antenna Amplifier of any type or kind. Here are places to buy Tv antennas and etc. , http://www.3starinc.com , http://solidsignal.com , http://www.starkelectronic.com , http://www.amazon.com

Channels 9 and 6 suddenly not tuning in

Thanks for the great responses everyone. I will assume that no one is aware of any changes for 9 and 6 and I will try to continue to tune in.

Like I said I had perfect reception for 7 months or so with the exact same equipment and setup I have now.

To answer your specific question, I have no knowledge of a change... I don't know one way or the other. I could speculate that a TV or FM station has come online or increased power recently... but that is only speculation.

I do know, as JC has pointed out, an amplified antenna is not indicated by the information in your TVF report. Amplifiers have there place. Your signal conditions argue against an amplified antenna. The powerful signal levels at your location could easily overload many amplifiers including those built into small antennas such as yours.

If you are still having problems after trying different locations and adjustments of your existing antenna, You may need to consider replacing it with an antenna that is non-amplified. Here is a list of indoor non-amplified antennas.

If I were in your situation I would install an RCA ANT-751 outside, aiming SSE. I would expect that type antenna to receive enough signal power to easily drive eight sets with no amplifier required. The antenna suggested by JC is another option which would provide even higher signal levels.

Channel 9 and 6 issue - resolved

TVFool Friends,
Thank you for assisting me (an OTA newbie) in fixing my issue.

I repositioned my dipoles and the face of my antenna unit and then rescanned for channels and it worked very well I have 9 and 6 and others as well.

I will consider buying a non-amplified antenna given the advice of the replies in this thread.

Sincerely,
MeadPointofView

If what you have works for you, then there's no need to buy anything else.
