BREAKING NEWS... New hairdryer received and the results are in!

The brushless-motor hairdryer DOES NOT CAUSE INTERFERENCE!
AMAZING!

Tuned to Channel 39, I used my TiVo's Signal Strength meter and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) to help quantify the results.

NO hairdryer: Signal Strength 55%, SNR 23
OLD hairdryer: Signal Strength 50%, SNR 20 (both drop)
NEW hairdryer: Signal Strength 55%, SNR 23 (No change!)

AND... my wife LOVES her new hairdryer! WIN WIN!

Generally speaking, are there other household appliances that can affect reception that we should be on the look-out for?

Anything that uses (or makes) electricity.

Especially items with electric motors...
Fans, air conditioners, central air, garbage disposal, exhaust fans, refrigerator compressor, garage door motor, sump pumps, washer, dryer, dish washer and the dreaded hairdryer.

In these cases, the motor creates and emits the RFI, and the attached electrical cord can act as a broadcast antenna, transmitting the RFI. As Rabbit73, rickbb and Tower Guy suggested, placing a ferrite bead on the power cord close to the motor can help reduce the broadcast antenna effect of the power cord, but does nothing to squelch the RFI transmitting directly from the motor.
