It's a somewhat unique design. It's a very good H-VHF antenna, though the larger Antennacraft Y10713 has it beat on forward gain.

Unlike the Y10713, the CS5 has some modest UHF capability that could be described as 'near omnidirectional'.

There are circumstances were I will gladly recommend the CS5. Yours (especially in an attic) is not one of those circumstances.

If you are looking for a small antenna that behaves like a large antenna, you may be setting yourself up to be taken in by some dishonest sales pitch... The reality is, you need excellent performance in an antenna if you are to expect acceptable results. Placing the antenna in an attic may prevent you from getting reliable reception. Excellent antenna performance comes in the form of relatively large antenna designs, modest performance comes in smaller packages. Beware of small antennas with built in amplifiers... amplifier gain can not accomplish the same function as real antenna gain.
