My thoughts. I have a metal vent pipe I was going to mount it to with u-bolts. Would that be good?

Verify the mounting/bracing of the pipe. If it's solidly held in place, so that the roof jack AKA weather boot will not be flexed or stressed, then yes, metal vent pipe can be a decent mounting point.

If the pipe can be moved, even slightly, a leak can develop between the pipe and boot. In that case, you'd be better off using a tripod with penetrating fasteners.

EDIT - The boom was upside down

Okay the antenna finally came! I am concerned that it is missing 3 holes though. Can someone verify if this is true? If so I will just drill them and make it work.

Also, I check some of the roof vents and they are pretty solid. They are metal and don't really wiggle. The boot is metal and is sealed with a kind of tape that looks more solid than a rubber boot. I think I will go that route and if it isn't working grab a tri-pod.

Good news!

Antenna installed 6ft higher than before and am using the Antennas Direct 42xg and am now getting a rage of 21.6-27 SNR on all the channels I care about and even picked up a few more channels I didn't know about.

Thank you so much!
