Irving, TX OTA reception advice

Hi,

I am looking for a suggestion for a small high quality antenna to help a friend in Irving pick up some OTA stations. It looks like there should be several stations available. They are in a ground floor apartment. They currently have a cheap set top antenna they paid around $20. They said they are only getting a couple of Spanish stations. They do not have any type of attic space. I am not sure which direction the apartment is facing.

A high quality set top would be great or something they may be able to hook up to two tv's. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

It is difficult to predict the performance of an indoor antenna, but the Antennas Direct C2V is an outdoor antenna that often does well indoors.

The antenna should be aimed at 169 degrees magnetic. Try different antenna locations in the apartment with just one TV and then add the splitter. If the TV has a signal strength indicator, that will help.

Thank you for your quick reply. I am familiar with that antenna and have used it for both my daughter's and brother's set ups with great success. In this case I was hoping for something smaller. Is there anything else that could be suggested that is smaller without losing too much reception quality. If no, I will pick this one up again.

Thanks again...

It would be prudent to gather more details first. With signals that strong, a paper clip should pick up many channels unless there are extenuating circumstances.

A good starting point would be to find out, first of all, which specific stations are coming in okay as that tells us what is working and, secondly, some details about their residence, especially in regards to their layout, exposure in the direction of the signals source(s) and the construction involved.
