Help in Grand Rapids, MI

Looking for antenna help. Currently have a Winegard MS-2000 and it gets every channel but Channel 3 (Real 8) consistently. Channel 3 will work some days, not on others.
I'm wondering if I need to install two directional antennas, since the majority of the networks are located to the SSE of me, and then to the NW. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any luck on the NE side of Grand Rapids getting channel 3 in.
Currently the signal is split only once (2 TVs).

Here's my report:

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Continue to use the MS2000 antenna and install a Antenna Craft , Y5713 , VHF high band antenna aimed at about 174 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Separate the antennas buy about 3 feet , the Y5713 below the MS2000 above.

The 2 antennas are connected together with a Antennas Direct UHF/VHF Combiner.

Model EU385CF-1s.

Connect the MS2000 to the UHF connection of the combiner.

Connect the Y5713 to the VHF connection of the combiner.

The remaining connection of the combiner connects to the coax the goes to a HFS-2D 2 way splitter and power supply/power inserter of the MS2000.
____________

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , power passing 2 way splitter.

Buy the HFS splitter at , http://www.solidsignal.com or http://www.hollandelectronics.com.
_________

For outside coax it is best to use coax that has the Compression type connectors on the ends of the coax , not the Old crimp type coax connectors.

Coax Seal , can be used to seal the matching transformer (balun) that connects the Y5713 antenna to the coax , and other weather exposed connections.

_________

Here are places to buy antennas and ect. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.antennasdirect.com , http://www.antennacraft.net.

_________

As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , multipath/reflecting , absorbing , blocking , Digital Broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to install the antennas at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

At your location the directions of reception are , south east , south , south west , west , north west.

_________

Digital Broadcast Tv Tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channels scans.

Do a Double Rescan , http://www.dtv.gov/rescan.html.
