Another newbie in Colorado Springs

Hello everyone! New to the site and definitely new to OTA stuff. I found the other Colorado Springs thread after runing a Google search, so I figured I would join up and get some information.

Here's the signal analysis for my address:

I've gathered that Colorado Springs has some pretty strong signals, and judging by the analysis it seems most are coming from the same group of broadcast towers on the top of Cheyanne Mountain nearby. I'm renting the house I'm in, so I can't go with a permanent install. I want to use an indoor setup to keep things simple and not worry about wires/cables coming into the house. Would my situation allow for it? My living room is on the south side of the house which is where all those signals are coming from and the TV is probably within 5-10 feet of the south wall on the south west corner

I was hoping for something like the Terk HDTV which I found on the Indoor Antennas thread (http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=2828).

If the house is wood frame with wood or vinyl siding and no metal roof , a indoor antenna will work Ok.

If the house is , metal frame , concrete walls , concrete block , cinder block , brick walls , big rocks for walls , stucko Wire , metal siding , metal roof , tile roof , solar panels , reception will be reduced or blocked.

Trees and tree leaves will reduce or block Tv reception.

Other building structures that are in the way of reception can reduce or block reception.

For a indoor antenna use a Terk HDTVi indoor antenna. Aim the antenna at about 190 degree magnetic compass.

Hmmm... I'm not sure what type of frame it is, but it's stucco exterior. Good thing is there are large windows right by the TV but where I was planning on setting up the antenna was in the corner of the living room which is not by the window. There are no immediate trees outside the house. I'll give it shot and see how things go. Thanks for the information!

Yes the HDTVi will work well, aimed as advised.

If you have a DTV set (one with an ATSC tuner) be sure to change the factory default to receive the "antenna channels" NOT CABLE and scan for antenna channels. You will find these options in set-up options in the menu.

Hiding Tv antennas is not a good idea.

Tv antennas like elbow room.

Tv antennas like to see the light of day.

Tv antennas indoors receive better when in a window that is toward the transmitters.

Tv antennas like to have their receiving elements extended out to receive the signals.

Tv antennas receive better when up high to get more signal.

Tv Antennas Receive The Best When Loved.

Tv antennas receive better when not stuck in a corner.

Tv antennas receive better when not stuffed in a closet.

Tv antennas receive better when not jammed behind the entertainment center.

Tv antennas receive better when not folded up and put in a drawer.

There is nothing to adjust on the HDTVi, but near a window in the direction of the stations with the small end toward the stations is best.

Starting Adjustments of HDTVi.

Extend the VHF reception rods out to receive the VHF channels 2 thru 13 Tv transmissions.

Adjust the VHF reception rods to a low vee shape/angle for better reception.

Adjust the UHF antenna to the horizontal position for reception of channels 14 thru 51.

Aim the narrower end of the HDTVi UHF antenna at the TV transmitters.

Further adjustments are made to improve reception.

VHF reception is effected by the length of the telescoping dipole rods. For reception of real channel 8, start with the rods adjusted to about 15 3/8" each.
