Antenna South Central WI

Hi all,
New to this site and to antennas in general (I have cable).
I have a small cabin 65 miles from Madison and watch those channels. There is a antenna on the roof with an amplifier plugged into the wall. There are some of the "tines" (the metal posts) missing from the antenna.
I cannot get Fox and NBC is weak.

Here is my report:

I thought that I need a long range directional amped antenna but I'm not sure.
I only get one chance at this (I cannot keep buying antennas until I get it right).

Lastly, where would you recommend to buy from?

Thanks in advance for your help and expertise.

Tom

One other note.
I'm also looking on how to increase my radio reception. Not sure is there is something that can be split from the Tv antenna or not.

Thanks to the Fox affiliate, you will need a High-VHF/UHF antenna. Get a Winegard hd7698P. A pre-amp will only be helpful if you're running 50 feet or more of cable to the TV. Otherwise, it will only add noise to the circuit and not do you any good. That antenna might help with FM reception, but is not explicitly designed to do so.

A one-antenna solution that includes FM would be a lot bigger, as it would be designed to catch low-VHF TV. An example would be the Winegard HD8200P. You would be better off to hang up the wire dipole antenna that manufacturers used to include with receivers.
