Antennas Direct 91XG Signal

I have the Antennas Direct 91XG UHF long range antenna. I also use the GE 24db gain booster. I have the antenna at around 37-38' with the elevation of 663. I can get 12 channels out of Springfield Missouri that is 90 miles away consistently with no drop out on most days. I have 65-75% signal during the day and around 95% after sundown. My mother has the same setup at about 30' high but her elevation is 643 and shes approx 3 tenths of a mile away from me. She only gets 6 of the channels and 3 of them fade in and out during the daytime hours but work great after sundown. She gets around 65% on 3 of them in the day and goes to above 80% some days after dark. But the main KY3 channel she wants KYTV out of Springfield Missouri she gets around 57% during the day and it don't come in most days during the daytime but works well after sundown. My question is if there is a stronger/better booster she can use that might help her out. I know height is her problem but a better booster may help. Any Ideas??

See I get the KYTV 3.1 3.2 3.3 all day long with mine but she don't. I see its in the grey area to.
The KSPR-DT She can get them during the day its 33.1 33.2 33.3 but says 19 on the chart.
I can get all these channels all day long. But at night I get a lot of extra ones to. Like the KOZL-TV I get 27.1 27.2 27.3 I also get all the K21JS 21.1 21.2 21.3 21.4 channels. All these work in the day also some but work the best at night.

KYTV 44 3.1 NBC is the main channel my mother is wanting to get.

Is the report you gave in post #2 for your location and the reports you gave in post #4 for HER location?

Are there any trees or buildings in the signal path at her location?

Post 2 is just general area location. Post 4 is her exact location at 30' and 40' antenna height. We live in middle of nowhere there are trees everywhere. No buildings.

Yes but I have no idea what that means.

The strength of a signal on the tvfool report is given in two ways.

The first way shown is the Noise Margin, or NM for short. The TVFOOL FAQ says that a signal must have a NM of at least zero to be received, but you can add the antenna gain to make the NM more positive.

Both of the NMs are negative, so the -10.0 dB signal is weaker.

The signal Power in dBm is another way to state the strength of a signal, and can be measured with a signal level meter. Most tuners require a signal to be at least -85 dBm, but you can also add the antenna gain and the preamp gain to make it more positive (less negative) if it is weaker than -85 dBm on your report.

OK, I answered your other thread and am back on this one. I think I figured out where your mom is in Wideman. The satellite photo shows trees, but there are no leaves because of when the photo was taken. Trees block UHF signals:

Her location is on the extreme fringe of KYTV coverage:



a closeup shows that her location is in a dead zone for the KYTV signal. Purple is very weak; no color is even weaker.



The terrain profile shows the interference from the curvature of the earth and the rough terrain.

To improve her chances of better NBC reception, I suggest the 91XG with the front tilted up 5 to 10 degrees by trial-and-error testing, aimed at 323 degrees magnetic, and a Channel Master 7777 preamp. The antenna must be mounted in a location that does not block the signal with trees.

If the antenna is outside, the coax shield should be grounded with a grounding block that is connected to the house electrical system ground with 10 gauge copper wire for electrical safety and to reject interference. For further compliance with the electrical code (NEC), the mast should also be grounded in a similar manner to drain any buildup of static charge which will tend to discourage a strike, but the system will not survive a direct strike.

Yes this is all together a different location. Its around 20 miles closer to the transmitters. Step dads place. You are correct on my mothers place. Thanks for the enlarged maps. I gotta figure out how to use the maps and tools better.

We'll I had the same problem with the antennas Direct 91XG I firest used a channel master 7778 I Wood get. A CHANNEL 85Miles ALL night till 11:am loose IT in till 6pm so then I bought the channel master 7777amp and then I received ALL channels day or night with no dropouts
