(Note that CBC is the only local channel still transmitting in analog.)
- Antenna:
http://www.winegard.com/freevision/index.php
- Antenna height: 11ft on j-mount/mast
- Antenna azimuth: ~180 degrees true
- 2ft away from building wall. Wall faces west.
- Around 30ft of RG-6 cable, one barrel coupler
- No tall buildings obstructing line-of-sight to transmission towers
- Tested on a partly overcast day. Light winds.
Signal strength on 32" Sharp Aquos:
11 CBAFT-DT (Radio Canada) 94%
27 CIHF-DT (Global) 74%
29 CKCW-DT (CTV) 74%
Analog CBC on channel 7 comes in quite clear. A bit of fuzz and ghosting though.
As a reference, I start to see artifacts when the signal strength drops below 65%.
I hope this helps others make a decision on their antenna setups.
EDIT: Some more info:
- Antenna installed on appartment building's front entrance awning, so it needs to look discrete
- CBC analog channel 7 will go off-air this summer/fall
EDIT (16-May-2012):
Today is a rainy overcast day. The signal strength for 29 CKCW-DT is down to 71%, with no apparent loss in picture quality.
