Question Old School

I live in a, what I thought was a bad reception area. I have mountains all around. Zip 91042.. When I check TV Signal Analysis it says I can receive all channels. This can't be true? Or maybe I'm not reading the data properly? I know that in the old days terrestrial TV was around 50mhz and line of sight was the name of the game. Can someone tell me if it still is. Are local broadcasters using UHF instead of VHF? UHF is higher than VHF so it should be more of a slave to the line of sight theory? Please straighten me out on this. Also, what are the best antennas and what are scams?
Anybody who replies, THANKS!
Mike

You should enter your exact address instead of just a zip code. Or, better yet, use the interactive maps tool here so you can see exactly what point is being analyzed. Switch to "hybrid" view, zoom in, and reposition the orange marker until it's right on top of your house.

If you enter just your zip code, it will pick some arbitrary point in your area to analyze. If it happens to pick a point on top of a mountain, then it will look like TV signals are all around.

An analysis of your exact location will yield more realistic results.

This is your TVfool report for Tujunga, CA
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...8d17b05d1ee132

There is sure to be some multipath due to the rugged terrain. If you installed an HD-7698P on the roof with a AP-8700 preamp you'd get everything on the TVfool list except KSFV and KSKJ down to KAZA.

The other option is a two antenna configuration using a 91XG and a Y10-7-13 with an AP2870 preamp.

Tv Antennas and Reception

The Tv antenna will be pointed at about 86 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to point Tv antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. I suggest using a Strong and Sturdy antenna mount such as , tripod roof mount , chimney mount , peak of the roof eave mount , http://www.3starinc.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.starkelectronic.com , http://www.amazon.com. Read and understand this about , Real Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , Virtual Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , Analog Tv Channels , http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=695
