Omni or Directional Help?

I am only interested in getting the first five stations on the list (9.1, 13.1, 16.1, 28.1 and 34.1). They are all less then 8 miles and are all high VHF or UHF. They are coming from just two directions 86 degrees and 170-171 degrees. I can mount to an existing low eave mounted DirectTV (appx. 15ft.) or the attic. There are a few trees in one path (Oregon) and a house in the other path.

I have been using rabbit ears with a loop and getting OK results until I try to adjust for another station.
I was considering a Winegard Metrostar (non amped) MS-1000 for ease of installation?

Conversely, I was thinking of two directional Yagi's such as the RCA ANT751R since there are only two paths but I'd like to avoid this option because of cost and more complicated installation. AND the fact that my DirecTV is promising a HD local upgrade sometime in 2012. Then again, I was promised a horse when I turned 16...

Think a Winegard MS-1000 might do me?
Any advice from the Antenna Guru's would be gratefully appreciated!!!

The MS-1000 would be easy to try and should work just fine. The ANT 751 may also work if aimed somewhere between the two desired locations. If you used two of them, you would need to use two coaxes and an A/B switch. That would also work.

With the trees and house providing obstructions, I'm less than enthusiastic about an omnidirectional antenna.

Try a single ANT-751. Use a starting aim point of about 120°. The signals are certainly strong enough and the forward beam is wide enough... I expect you'll see the top five and much more.

I agree with GroundYrMast. The omni could work, but 751 is a better choice.

Thanks Everyone!! Just ordered 751R. Gonna climb the ladder and fuss around a bit in a couple of days. Just like me going back fifty years,almost. LOL.
