Best antenna for my location?

I live in a rural area on a small(ish) Canadian island so there's barely any TV channels where I live. I'm willing to get a roof top antenna just for "CIHF-TV" which is a station that shows all my favorite reality shows.

This is my location: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...5ed637830e0129

As you can see there aren't many stations.. but if I can get the big three canadian stations CTV/CBC/Global (channels 4,5 & 11) I'll be happy. I own an HDTV but I don't own a digital converter box. I don't think I need one because all channels appear to be analog and my TV has a built in tuner. Here's some specs of my TVs tuning abilities:

"Channel Coverage (Analog) : VHF: 2-13/UHF: 14-69/CATV: 1-135
Channel Coverage (Digital Cable) : CATV: 1-135
Channel Coverage (Digital Terrestrial) : VHF: 2-13/UHF: 14-69
Color System : NTSC 3.58
Number of Tuners (Terrestrial/Cable) : 1(Digital/Analog)
TV System (Analog) : M
TV System (Digital Cable) : Clear QAM
TV System (Digital Terrestrial) : ATSC"

(Keep in mind I don't know what any of that means)

Please help. Thanks in advance.

But I'm not sure how tall our house is. I would guess around 25 feet.

->ALL<- Questions and Answers about Broadcast Tv Reception and More.

The following is a Teleview recommendation for broadcast Tv reception.

The Tv you have receives both , Analog and Digital Terrestrial Broadcast Tv Channels. That means that when a Tv transmitter changes from Analog transmission to Digital transmission , the Tv will receive the new Digital transmission.

A Simple reception situation.

For reception of the 3 Tv stations of ,

CBIT channel 5 CBC.

CJCB-TV channel 4 CTV.

CIHF-TV channel 11 GTN.

Above the roof at about 25 feet above ground install a Winegard HD7082P antenna with a Winegard AP8700 preamp , aimed at about 75 degree magnetic compass direction.

An alternate antenna and preamp is the , Channel Master 3679 antenna and channel master CM7778 Preamp.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter

Buy the HFS splitters at , http://www.hollandelectronics.com , or , http://www.solidsignal.com.

Some common above the roof antenna mounts are , tripod mount , eave mount , chimney mount.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so buildings and other obstructions.

It is best install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the direction of reception.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or ' Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.saveandreplay.com , http://www.trentondistributors.com , http://www.canadapost.ca/shopper , http://www.amazon.ca ,http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.channelmasterstore.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com

The following is a Teleview recommendation for broadcast Tv reception.

There is also CIMC-TV channel 10 , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIMC-TV.

This Tv station is at 232 degree magnetic compass direction.

As a Test.

The HD7082P or CM3679 antenna can be aimed at the Tv station , and scan for Broadcast Tv channels to see if CIMC is received.

If CIMC-TV channel 10 is received and has programing you will like receive , then turn the HD7082P/CM3679 back around to receive the other 3 Broadcast Tv stations.
________________________________

I recommend a Separate antenna for reception of CIMC , a Winegard YA1713 antenna and a Winegard AP8700 preamp or Channel Master CM7778 preamp , for reception of CIMC-TV channel 10

The YA1713 antenna system is SEPARATE from the other antenna system and is Not connected to the other antenna system.

With the YA1713 antenna system .

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

The 2 separate antenna systems are separate all the way to the location/s of the Tv/s and are connected to a Remote control A/B antenna switch , http://www.mcmelectronics.com , #32-4425 , saveandreplay also has this same remote control A/B antenna switch.

Two separate antenna systems with a remote control A/B antenna switch is Channel Surfing Friendly , press the button on the hand held remote control , change antennas and keep on channel surfing.
