Antenna advice in NC

Hi, I'm looking for advice and recommendations on what antenna to purchase (best bang for the buck). I plan to ditch Direct TV and currently have a Direct TV dish mounted on the lower corner of my roof (1 story house). I was hoping to use that mast and existing cable for a quick and easy antenna installation. My other option is an attic installation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Heres my TV Fool Report:

What do you think about this antenna?:

Your location has way too many easy to receive Tv stations , the transmissions are Strong. I recommend a Winegard HD7694P Tv antenna. Pointed at about 276 magnetic compass. DO NOT use any type or kind of preamp or amplifier. Mount the antenna in such a way that the antenna is clear of obstructions and the roof does not block Tv reception. Here are some places to buy Tv antennas and etc.. http://www.3starinc.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.starkelectronic.com , http://www.amazon.com

For your and other question askers information , Tv transmissions are not only in the UHF Tv band of 14 thru 69 . . Tv transmissions are also in the Tv bands of VHF high 7 thru 13 and VHF low 2 thru 6. The easy to receive Tv transmissions in your area are in the Tv bands of VHF high 7 thru 13 and UHF 14 thru 69. I agree with most of your advise John, though I think this could be a case were 'less is more'. An RCA ANT-751 or Antennacraft AC9 aimed as you suggest, offers better balance of signal levels east versus west. The HD7694P may have more F/B ratio than would be ideal for this location.

Just my opinion...

8ball, the DB-4 is an excellent UHF only antenna. John & I are suggesting antennas that include both UHF and VHF coverage given the presence of real VHF channels 7,9 & 13.

I just wanted to follow up and thank both of you for the great advice and steering me in the right direction. After comparing the antennas you recommended, I went with the RCA ANT 751 (mainly because of the smaller size) and pointed as John suggested. I can now receive the major network broadcasts (which was my goal) and more.

With this antenna coupled with my Roku, I now have plenty of cheap and free entertainment. I've already cancelled DirectTV and don't miss it at all.

Thanks again!
