antenna suggestion for 1 VHF channel

Tried a Clearstream4 in the attic with a very small amplifier (from a flat antenna I was removing) and got decent reception on CBS, Fox and NBC (at the 173degree) but couldn't pull in the VHF KXTV channel for more than a couple blips on the screen. Would prefer to put the antenna in the attic but if I could get away with one the size of the CS4 or smaller I wouldn't mind putting it outside.

Add an VHF only antenna? Inside? Outside?
Better UHF/VHF? inside? outside?
Bigger Amp?
Recommended antennas?

KXTV would be a long shot in an attic with any antenna.

The ClearStream C5 is available for high-VHF reception. It's only a bit larger than a C4.

I was thinking of trying the CS4 in the attic with the CS5 outside and something like the channel master 7777 amp to combine them and up the signal from both before heading down into the house.
