Lost Channels out of Utica NY

Hello All

Some of you might know me from my ongoing issue discussed in these threads.

http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=14718

http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=15827

I am currently awaiting spring to get someone on my roof to remove the pre-amp.

In the mean time I have been using a small RCA antenna, looks like a shark fin. I have been getting channels out of Utica NY for some time then this Saturday they are gone.

The channels were 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 One was NBC, One was CBS, One was MeTV, and I forget what the other one was. We were watching TV fine Saturday Afternoon, then we went out to visit family and when we got back, around 11pm, they were gone.

I rescanned, Nothing, I changed the cable from antenna to tv, Nothing, I tried a new antenna, Nothing. I still have 33.1 which is FOX and some shopping channels in the mid 50's range.

I cleared all channels from tv and did a double rescan and still only picks up 33.1 FOX and Shopping Channels.

You can see my Location information at http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...e1c6b6c4f3e9c5

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

It was likely an atmospheric fluke anyway that allowed the short-term reception of those stations from so afar away with such a modest antenna.

Such conditions come and go and won't be dependable without an optimized antenna system, properly installed and executed. Even if you do everything right, weak signals will be at the mercy of the atmosphere and your surroundings.

I do not think it is a fluke. I have been picking those channels up for over 2 years now.

Thanks

Yes, it is the only antenna I have been able to get any channels with. I am closer to albany but it will not pick those stations up at all. I think it has to do with the fact that I am at about 2200' elevation. The rear of my house, which faces Utica, is where the land drops off so there are no obstructions. But, the front which faces Albany has a lot of trees and whatnot so I think the signal is blocked.

I put up a Wineguard on the roof with a channelmaster pre amp but am unable to pick anything up at all. People are now recommending I remove the preamp. I am not good with heights so I now have to wait until spring thaw to get someone up on the roof to do that.
