Trying to figure this all out!!

I ditched cable. At nearly $1000 a year, I figured I could find an alternative.

So I went to Wally, and bought a Phillips outdoor antenna. After some annoyance, a broomstick, some extra coax, and a lot of swearing, I get every major network except NBC.

So, here's my problem...I live here: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...0b86604efcdcde

Apparently, the NBC station broadcasts at a low wattage, or something to that effect. Okay -- whatever -- except there's this little football game this weekend....that just so happens to be on NBC.

Plus, if I want to convince the Mrs to go without cable, I need the major networks....

So, help, please!!

Best,
EW

I assume that you are trying to get WAFF RF-49 in Huntsville, AL and not WSMV RF-10 in Nashville, TN. Weak transmission is not the problem. Your problem is that weak signal at your antenna. As you no doubt know, Huntsville is located in the Tennessee River Valley and there is also a mountain between you and the city. This partially explains why all of the Huntsville stations are 2Edge. WAFF also suffers from co-channel interference. The first thing that jumps out at me is that you have your antenna elevated to 16 feet. Redo your TV Fool Radar plot for 20 feet and 30 feet. I am confident that your reception will dramatically improve on all Huntsville stations if you raise your antenna.

Tv antennas and Tv reception

Make two new radar reports with the antenna at 25 feet and 40 feet. The NBC transmission is weak at your location. For reception a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp will be installed and aimed at about 143 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are Strong and Sturdy antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html. Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.antennasdirect.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com
