Good day Every one,

Frist, I would like to thanks Everyone for the support, I have been using the resource from that site for a long time.

So, I install my Home made Antenna with a reflecteur in the atic with a recycled balum, 50ft of coax, A wall plate, 6ft of coax, direct to the TV. (I use this site as Reference: http://www.tvantennaplans.com)

Right now I not sure what to do, I am receiving all the channel in Green and Yellow with the exeption of ABC (13) and FOX (43) (ABC is intermitent, I receive it form time to time)

MY LG TV is able to tell me the Percent of the Signal that it received 0 to 100%, I am having Good picture with 30% Signal and up. Unfortunately can't translate that to any DB reading.

Like I sad above ABC is intermittent the signal varies between 3% to 35%, So on good day I got picture and FOX is
1% to 15%.

I found out strange that I received Clearly every other station from Montpelier and not those two.

I am looking for option to get consistent signal for these two station. and not loosing all the other Also, I am not interested to in other Red or Gray Channel.
I don't want invest much for only 2 channel so any cheap solution are welcome.

I already try to re-aline my antenna; not much luck form that.

I have consider a 10 or 15db amplifier; Is it a good Idea?? and witch one should I Get??
Any other Idea ??

Hello Nicolas,

I've had that same home built antenna. It can work well. Your problem with it is that ABC WVNY is a on real channel 13. That is in the high-VHF band. The antenna you are using current is tailored to channels 14 and up. That is the UHF band.

Additionally your issues with FOX WFFF is likely due to your home antenna not being a strong enough design. That is to say, a stronger antenna with better gain and capture ability of weak signals is likely more ideal.

Lastly, the US signals are best received with an outdoor antenna. Weak signals do not penetrate attics well. You are lucky you see some of them at all. Recommend outdoor installation for reliable reception of yellow shaded US signals.

If I were in your situation. I would have two separate antenna systems mounted on your roof. One pointed towards magnetic 115. An Antennacraft HBU22 ought to handle your local Canadian signals nicely.

The second antenna I'd opt for an Antennacraft HBU44, would be dedicated to the US signals. This antenna should be orientated to magnetic 170.

On the mast, mount the HBU44 at the top and 4' below mount the HBU22. Run two drops of coax into home. Terminate them in an A/B Switch. Example: http://www.showmecables.com/product/...Fcg7MgodbA4AQg. Run single coax to TV. Are you wanting to serve more TVs?

This will in effect give you dedicated Canadian and US systems. My thinking is this: the US signals are weak and wll be most reliable by 1) mounting antenna outdoors and 2) Having an antenna being able to use all it's signal gathering ability focused on those weaker signals.

To switch between Canadian and US signals will just be a matter of selecting antennas.

Finally, I think wanting to scrimp on money may be detrimental. Buying the right antennas and equipment can be the difference between unreliable and reliable reception. As I've laid this system out to you, I am fairly confident you will reliably receive all green and yellow shaded Canadian and US signals with no drop outs.

I recommend a 1 antenna solution.

For reception of the Canada and USA Digital Broadcast Tv Stations/Channels.

HBU44 antenna above the roof in such a manner that the roof and building are not , obstructing , impeding , blocking , reception in the directions of , East , South East , South South West.

Aim the HBU44 antenna at about 157 degree magnetic compass direction.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building.

The Best Practices for Reliable Reception is to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.
