Antenna selection for very near towers

Hi, I am moving to Montréal just a mile south of the stadium.

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1349d824387e84

I will be in an apartment building 4ft above ground level. I bought a EyeTv Hybrid tuner for my mac and I am looking into buying an antenna. For now I'd prefer to go with an indoor antenna.

I would like to get the locals :
TQ, TVA, CTV, SRC, CBC, V, GLOBAL (CKMI-DT)

I guess I should go with a non-amplified antenna since the towers are very near? Also I am wondering if I choose a directional antenna heading Mt-Royal (216°) if I will pick-up TQ which is 1 mil north on the stadium (356°)

The 216° heading is pretty much through my patio door, but the street as a lot of trees and building are very dense. (Well, Montréal)

For antenna I have looked at the TERK HDTVi indoor antenna (Directional non amplified (also available amplified)) and at the RCA ANT1500 (Flat multi-directionnal). Both are VHF/UHF capable. I find those interesting for there price, aesthetics and availability.

In a second step I am wondering what kind of equipment I would need to get the US stations (On Mt Mansfield I think), especially FOX. I might be able to arrange something with the owner for a rooftop antenna so i'm open to suggestions but indoor is preferred if possible.

Thank you for your time and advices,

A simple reception situation.

The Tv transmissions of Canada and USA are Strong at your location.

With a Small outdoor roof top antenna , ANT751 , aimed at about 167 degree magnetic compass.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

ALL of the Canada Tv stations/channels including TQ will be received.

And the USA channels , CBS , NBC , This Tv , PBS , FOX , The CW , ABC , will be received.

1 or 2 Tv's can be connected , No amplifier required.

The Tv/s Must scan for the Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Do Not scan for cable tv channels.

If the building is wood frame with wood or vinyl siding and no metal roof , then install a Terk HDTVi indoor antenna aimed at about 167 degree magnetic compass.

If the building is , metal frame , concrete walls , concrete blocks , cinder blocks , brick walls , big rocks for walls , stucko Wire , metal siding , metal roof , heavy duty tile roof , solar panels , Tv reception will be reduced or blocked.

With indoor antenna.

Thanks for your inputs Electron,

I have a my patio door in this direction and the building is wood so will try with a Trek indoor antenna first, if I can't get the us from there I'll look into switching for a rooftop ANT751!

->ALL<- Questions and Answers about Broadcast Tv Reception and More.

If the patio is to the south/south/east , 167 degrees magnetic compass.

Install the ANT751 antenna on the patio aimed at about 167 degree magnetic compass.

A good stand/mount for the ANT751 antenna is set a Tripod Antenna Mount on the patio.

The best way to get the coax from the ANT751 antenna to the inside of the apartment is through a hole through the wall.

Here is an other way , http://www.hollandelectronics.com , Flat Coax Cable , #144823.
