New antenna user

Hello ,

I just dumped my Direct TV and going to do an OTA setup. I acquired a Magnavox Mant901 antenna but it doesn't sound like it is a good choice. It didn't cost me anything so I am open to recommendations. I plan on getting a DVR as we got spoiled with Direct TV's DVR and not watching commercials. We just subscribed to Netflix also.
Here is my TV analysis results.
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1ddad8e3ce0e95

I will be doing an eaves mount setup at about 20 ft above ground. There is a row of Silver Maple trees about 100 ft from the house (to the north and northeast). They are about 35 ft. tall. I could do a rooftop mount if it would help. My house is a ranch style so the peak of the roof is only 15 ft. AGL.

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes the coaxes that were used for the satellite system and other coaxes that are on or in the home can be used for the antenna system.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter. No antenna system amplifier.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter. No antenna system amplifier.

For 3 Tv's connected use a simple common 3 way splitter. No antenna system amplifier.

To keep weather/water out of outside connections use coax that has the Compression type connectors on the ends of the coax , not the old crimp type connectors.

To make double sure that weather/water does not get into outside connections , wrap connections and connectors and coax and the matching transformer that connects the antenna to the coax with , http://www.coaxseal.com.

Do not use 'rubber weather boots' , rubber weather boots take in water and hold the water inside the boots , makes bad connections.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a negative effect on , Broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings including your own roof and house and other obstructions.

It is best to install the HD850 antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for channels.
