Antenna Help

Hi guys,

I'm new to OTA and am finally ready to get rid of cable. Here's my tvfool report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1dda7f74c6f143

I'm hoping to keep the antenna indoors (if possible). So far, I've tried the following antennas:

Terk FDTV2A - Only got 2-3 channels
RCA HDTV/TV Antenna (CANT1650) - got about 6 channels but half were weak channels
TERK HDTVa - Worked fairly well with about 10 solid channels (CTV, CTV2, Global, CBC, French CBC and a bunch of other French stations).

Are there any omni antennas that might work? So far, the two listed above that I've tried were brutal.

The Terk HDTVa was great...except that it kept falling over. I've been doing a little research and found that the ClearStream2 or Winegard SS-3000 seem to have good reviews. Would either of these get me all of the channels that the Terk HDTVa did? Could it get some of the other channels such as City Tv or CHCH? Will either of these antennas be able to pick up the few VHF channels available in my area?

Any help would be most appreciated.

A Simple reception situation.

For the reception of , Many , many , many , many , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels.

Above the Peak of the Roof in such a manner that reception is not blocked by the roof and house of the directions , north east , east , south east , install a Antennas Direct , ClearStream 2 Complete Uhf/Vhf antenna aimed at about 75 degree magnetic compass direction.

http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...VHF-Combo.html.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

As always , the starting antenna aim direction is the -->starting antenna aim direction.

The antenna aim direction can be adjusted for best reception.

Most Digital Tv's have a Signal Strength Meter and some Digital Tv's have a Signal Quality Meter.

A antenna system amplifier is not required.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a simple common 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a simple common 4 way splitter.

To keep weather/water out of outside connections , For outside coax and connections use the coax that has the Compression type connectors on the ends of the coax , not the old crimp type connectors.

To make double sure that weather/water does not get into outside connections , wrap connections and coax with http://www.coaxseal.com.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. .

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a negative effect on Tv reception , multi-path/reflections , absorbing , blocking , Tv reception , and so buildings including your own roof and house and other obstructions.

The Best Practice is to install the CS2 Complete antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for channels.
