Help with reception in MI

Like many others I'm trying to cut the cord, and am looking for advice on component selection. My TVFool report is:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1dda4f474d4bd0

I would like to receive as many of the local (~35 mile radius) stations as possible. Since my HOA will have a hard time with a large external antenna, I intend on putting the antenna in the attic. Fortunately is large and tall, and should accept an antenna of any size. I assume I will need a preamp to overcome the signal loss due to placing the antenna in the attic and then running ~100 feet of coax to the basement. Since I want to hook the antenna directly into the existing coax in the house, will I need a distribution amplifier in the basement as well? The whole system will be driving three TVs when it is done.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Here is the Federal Antenna Law that states Clearly that the Hoa has No Say what the size of the Broadcast Tv reception antenna is for reliable reception.

The Federal Antenna Law says Yes you can install a Broadcast Tv antenna of any size Above The Roof so as to have Reliable Reception.

The Federal Antenna Law Protects You and Millions of other People.

The Federal Antenna Law makes Null and Void -->the people hiding behind the rules and regulations that they make up - and call them selfs , Hoa's/Aho's , housing coven-nuts , dead restricted housing , cities , counties , states , and any and all types and kinds of antenna haters.

To have a shot at Reliable Reception , of the Green and Yellow reception zones of the tvfool radar report and channel list of Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , NBC , CBS , ABC , PBS , , FOX , CW , MyNetwork , Me-Tv , This Tv , Country Network , and Etc. , that are of All Directions at your reception location.

Install a ANT751 antenna Above The Roof aimed at about 265 degree magnetic compass direction.
In such a manner that the roof and house are not blocking reception of All
Directions.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

The ANT751 comes with a , J type antenna mount.

As always , attics and the inside of buildings Are Not a reception friendly environment and Never Will Be a reception friendly environment.

Signal Attenuation , electric/electronic interference , multi-path/reflecting-signals bouncing all around.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , do a good job of , absorbing , multi-path/reflecting , blocking , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to install the ANT751 antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the , 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Digital Tv Setup Menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.

teleview, thank you very much for your response! While I'm sure that you are correct regarding Federal law, I would rather not pick a fight with the HOA, even one that I would be sure to win! If it is possible to place the antenna in my attic and avoid all other unpleasantness, I would rather do that.

With that in mind, would the ANT751 still be a good choice? I have a very large attic under a high peaked roof, so I can go with a larger antenna if necessary.

A preamp is designed to push signal long distances, and/or make up for loading down by multiple TV sets.
It will not make up for loss of signal due to signal blockage inside some building.

There is no way to predict how an antenna will perform when it is inside.
It's kind of like putting those dark plastic covers over your car's running lights.
