Your 20' report is very good. I see little if any advantage to mounting at 40'. A premium system would consist of two separate antennas.

Fist, an RCA ANT-751 pointed toward 86° compass. Simply run that to your TV, no amplifier needed, even if you split to several TVs. (Unneeded amplification is often a source of trouble.)

Second, a Winegard HD7694P pointed toward 149° compass would give you signals from the US. For a single TV, I don't think you will need amplification. This antenna would need to cable to the TV(s) separate of the first antenna. To connect to the TV(s), you have several options, http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=2882.

If you are inclined to use HTPC technology there are even more options, http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=820

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. This is great information.

Information I forgot, 4 TV's will be used with a maximum of 2 split.

So I will assume for best results I will need 2 antennas. This is more of a hassle but if it adds a few channels it will be worth it.

The Channel Master JoinTennas does not seem available in my area can you or someone recommend the Winegard CC-7870 Antenna Coupler.

I will assume I need one unit plug in the 2 cables and work my way around the house ?

Here is a shot at receiving the Canada and USA Digital Tv stations/channels at the same time With Out 2 Separate Antenna Systems.

Above the roof in such a manner that the roof and house do not block reception in the directions of , east , south east , south.

Install a Antennas Direct DB4e and a Antennas Direct C5 , both antennas aimed at about 130 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

__________________________________________

The Separate , DB4e UHF antenna and C5 VHF antenna provide aiming flexibility.

As always , the starting antenna aim direction is --> the starting antenna aim direction.
The antenna aim can be adjusted for best reception.

Most Digital Tv's have a signal strength meter and some Digital Tv's have a signal quality meter.

Tvfool lists the.

Real Channels that are transmitted and received.

And the Virt. = Virtual numbers.

The C5 antenna receives the Real channels 7 thru 13.

The DB4e receives the Real UHF channels 14 thru 51.

Looking at the tvfool , Pending Applications Included Digital channel list , I see that All of the Canada and USA , channels in the Green and Yellow zones of list should be received.
__________________________________________

The C5 comes with a combiner to combine the C5 and DB4e together on to 1 coax.

Connect the C5 to the VHF connection of the combiner.

Connect the DB4e to the UHF connection of the combiner.

The remaining connection of the combiner goes out to the Tv's.

Try reception with 1 or 2 Tv's with out a amplifier.

For 3 or 4 Tv's connected will most likely require a amplifier.

Use one of the New low noise amplifier from Winegard , the , Winegard 'Boost' LNA-100 distribution amplifier.

Connect the amplifier Before any splitter.

The amplifier is connected to the remaining connection of the combiner and before any splitter.

The Winegard 'Boost' LNA-100 amplifier is not water resistant so will be indoors.
_________________________

The Best Practice way to run coax is.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a 4 way splitter.

---->Avoid Using Multipul Splitters.<----
---->Avoid Chaining Splitters one after the other.<----

Can you clarify, "...4 TV's will be used with a maximum of 2 split." Feeding 4 TV's would require a 4-way splitter.

Combining the ANT-751 with an HD769XP into a single coax is not likely to work well. You can try it, it won't break anything... it's just that both antennas will receive a bit of signal from directions other than prime aim point... the weaker off-axis signals will usually interfere with the primary signal of the other antenna if you combine them without tuned filters. This often produces the equivalent of multipath interference.

The Winegard CC-7870 Antenna Coupler is basically a two-way splitter, with no filtering. I can't recommend it in this application, you would expect the problems mentioned in the previous paragraph. The JoinTenna product is discontinued, and if you could find some, would require one for nearly every single channel... and may require several more antennas and amplifiers...

In my first response, I proposed two separate antenna systems, cabled separately to each TV that you want the separate feeds available on. That means that in some households, all TVs would need double feeds. If most people in the home would be satisfied with only one feed, the complexity is reduced.

Thank you will review and post back.

Teleview you are telling me I can get away with using 1 coax cable using the c5 and db4e that can be a better solution. What do you think about the db8 only like 10$ more.

Thanks again

edit:

I see 2 c5 antenna at amazon.ca

B002E1UNWS vs B00AXEQAY8

Someone gave me a digiwave Antenna ant-7287. It is mounted on the roof about 20 feet from the ground. When pointing 140 i catch most channels under 50 miles even when there location is 70. I think my problem is the digiwave has a distance of 50 miles and the ones recommended are showing me they will not make it at 85 miles. I will create another post asking for a stronger unit.

Thanks again for all the help.
