Antenna recommendation

I'm hoping to get an antenna recommendation. We have a small cottage and are hoping to avoid cable. Currently we are using an indoor "leaf Antenna", with this we can only pick up 2 channels. Others in the neighborhood can get all basic channels except NBC with a roof top.
Here is my report:

We were hoping to use an omni-directional to avoid a router, but I'm afraid a radius of 30-45 miles will not do the job.
Any advice is welcome!
Thanks

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative effect on , OTA=Over The Air , Broadcast Tv antenna reception and so do buildings including your own roof and cabin and other obstructions.

The Best Practice is to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and cabin.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu becasue the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some digital tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and Select , 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for channels.

__

Digital Tv tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

Do a Double Rescan , http://www.dtv.gov/rescan.html.
