Complete rookie - help needed :)

First of all - here's the plot at my location. . To this day, I've used indoor antenna with an amp and I have been able to get 5-7 channels. But reception is spotty at best.

I have a dish network antenna on roof that I was planning to replace with a tv antenna.

Any recommendation on setup that'll work at my location??

Thank you.

Many , many , many , many , Digital Tv stations/channels will be received.

The direction with the most Digital Tv stations/channels to receive is the Milwaukee area Tv stations/channels.

Above The roof in such a manner that roof and house are not blocking reception in all directions , install a Winegard HD7084P antenna with a Winegard HDP-269 preamp aimed at about 44 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas ,

Here are some Strong and Sturdy above the roof antenna mounts. if using the tripod antenna mount use the 5 foot tripod antenna mount. if using the eave antenna mount then use the #4560.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word - ronard - in the solidsignal search box or buy from ronard.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

Buy the HFS splitters at , or

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , , ,

As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , reflecting , reducing . blocking , Digital Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to install a antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna CHannels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv setup menu and select , Digital Broadcast , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.

The next direction with Many but not as Many as Milwaukee is Madison.

As a -->Test<-- of Reception to see if you will like to receive the Madison area Tv stations/channels.

Aim the HD7084P antenna with the HDP-269 preamp , by hand at about 310 degree magnetic compass direction and scan for Digital Broadcast Tv channels.

If you will like to receive the Madison area Broadcast Tv channels , then install a complete Second antenna system that is the same as the first antennas system.

Separate the 2 antennas by about 3 feet on the same mast.

The 2 Separate antenna systems Will Not be connected together on to 1 coax.

The 2 Separate antenna systems will be separate All the way to the location/s of the Tv/s.

At each Tv location a , Remote control A/B antenna switch will be installed so as to switch from Milwaukee to Madison and Madison to Milwaukee.

A/B antenna switching is Channel Surfing Friendly , press the button on the hand held remote control , change antennas and Keep On Channel Surfing.

Putting 1 antenna on a antenna rotator Is Not channel surfing friendly , must wait for antenna to rotate and their Will Be Domestic Situations about the direction the antenna is aimed with 1 antenna and a antenna rotator.

The other 2 directions , Rockford and Chicago are much Weaker of signal strength and have less Tv stations/channels to receive.

You can Test reception of them also.
