Arrow need assistance with antenna upgrade

Hello,
I recently moved and now my antenna does not clearly recieve all the major networks. Here is my map: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...de653ac73c896d

I currently have this antenna (http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Aspen-Dt.../dp/B000GIT002) with an amp pointed north and I am receiving approx 10-12 channels. The antenna is in my attic. Almost all channels are around 70-75% strength. However channel 28 -WYZZ is a problem. I get about 50 str and it drops out a lot.

Can you recommend a better antenna to pickup ch 28. also most other channels get drop-outs during cloudy/storms so anything I can do to boost all my signals would be a plus.

Thanks,
Z

Your antenna is directional. It does have a fairly wide beamwidth, but the position that you are aimed to leaves channel 28 at 62 degrees in the weakest spot of the antenna. An RCA ANT751 should work, but you may need to play with directions moving towards channel 28, but not far enough to cause problems with your other received channels. You may not need your amplifier. Try with and without. If that fails or you want to resolve with your current antenna, you can install a rotor from the maker of your antenna an Aspen Eagel Roto 100 (a very good match). This would be easy to install, as it will work with your existing coax, provided you ditch your amplifier or replace with a Winegard 8700 amp, and have no splitters between the antenna and the rotor box.

Tv Antennas and Tv Reception

This recommendation is based on the tvfool Current Plus Pending Applications Included for Digital Tv Stations/Channels.

Make a 'Simple Modification' to the 2 bay UHF antenna that you have.
Remove the 'reflector screen' and now the antenna will receive at the front of the antenna and the back of the antenna. (and if required at some time in the future the reflector screen can be put back on.

Now aim either side of the antenna at about 15 degree magnetic compass. I suspect that all of the Tv stations/channels in the green and yellow zone of the tvfool radar report will now be received.
Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Also having the antenna in the attic does reduce reception , install the antenna above the roof for better reception.
The alternative to removing the reflector screen and/or moving the antenna above the roof or both is to buy a different antenna and/or install a antenna rotor.

Antenna rotors Are Not friendly for channel surfing , must wait for antenna to rotate.

The antenna that you have is only a two bay and the gain is not great. Removing the rear reflector will reduce the gain by 3db (50% or more). The stations to your South need all of the gain that you have, and in the attic you have barley enough. Reduce that by 50% and you will loose some channels.

The Tv stations/channels to the south are a reference to the Red Zone of the tvfool radar map , Tv stations channels of , WILL-TV 9 PBS , WCIX 13 , WLCF-LD 45 , WHBF-TV 4 CBS , W08DP 36 , WCIA-DT 48 CBS.

And from WICA the Tv stations slip in to the Gary reception zone. The red and gray zone Tv stations/channels are not being received now.

And will not be received with the 2 bay UHF antenna in the attic and will not be received with the 2 bay antenna in the attic even if the antenna has the reflector screen on and is aimed at the Tv stations.

Remove the reflector screen and mount antenna above the roof.

Tv Antennas and Tv Reception

After the reflector screen is removed from the 2 bay antenna and aimed at about 15 degree magnetic compass , the Tv station is still not received then install a http://www.antennasdirect.com , CPA-19 preamp.

If the Tv station is still not received , then upgrade to a http://www.antennacraft.net. U4000 with the reflector rods turned form the horizontal position to the vertical position to get the reflector rods out of the way so the U4000 can receive in two directions. This is simple to do , lift the clips that holds the rods in the horizontal position and rotate the rods to the vertical position.

The , >< , shaped metal elements are the reception elements. Now install the same CPA-19 preamp on to the U4000 that is aimed at about 15 degree magnetic compass. If the Tv station is still not received move the U4000 to above the roof.

Here are some roof antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com. Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal buy typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box or buy from ronard. Here are opther places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com.

Here is the amp: http://www.summitsource.com/product_...oducts_id=7874

I will try removing the reflector. all channels I receive are from the north/east. I don't currently receive anything from the south.

I did try a ANT751 pointed north and NE and results were very negative. only 4-5 channels recieved so I switched back to my original antenna.
