antenna advice for noth charlotte

I am a new user. I have dish and am tired of paying about $48 (mainly for PBS Kids). I am planning to buy an antenna and install it on the roof next to dish (single story). I am looking to get the PBS Kids channels for my daughter. Dish network seems to have two PBS stations. Here's my antenna reception report.

Can someone who is familiar advice me on what to buy? Antennas Direct seems to advice me for CS2 antenna. I found an used CS4 antenna locally for almost the same price as new CS2. Don't have any clue on what to buy. Your advice is much appreciated.

Also I have an analog TV without digital tuner. What would be a good DTV converter box to buy? Will the box let me what HDTV stations on a old TV?

Tv Antennas and Tv Reception

PBS KIDS and , many , many , many , many more channels will be received .

The CS2 and CS4 are both real fine UHF antennas.

However for your reception situation there are UHF channels and VHF channels to receive.
Install a CS2 Complete UHF/VHF antenna , Clear Stream 2 Complete antenna. http://www.antennadirect.com/store/C...VHF-Combo.html.

Aim the CS2 Complete at about 210 degree magnetic compass.
Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Here are some high quality strong and sturdy antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560/html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.
Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box or by from ronard.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com . http://www.antennasdirect.com , http://www.amazon.com.

YES the coax cables that were used for satellite system can be used for antenna system. HOW many Tv's are/will be connected??

Electron, Thanks for your reply.

If I happen to get a used ClearStream4 (CS4) antenna for a price lower than the CS2, can I buy it? Is CS2 the best choice for my situation? Is there something that makes you to suggest a CS2? I am not really particular about any brands.

Also I have a Philips 27" analog tube TV. Will the converter boxes allow me to watch TV with a old TV? I don't know how to read the HD TV channels from those of normal TV channels in the report. How do I know which channels are High Def?

For the mounts, I have a tripod mount from an old Dish network installation. I think it is about 5 feet tall and it looks very rugged and heavy duty.

The tripod antenna mount you have will be fine. I am not recommending that you buy a different antenna mount.
The information is provided as practical useful information. It is better to have practical and useful information then no information at all.

The VHF high band channel is WTVI Real channel 11 Virtual channel (42.1) .

The Real channels that are received by the Tv antenna and the Virtual channels are identified in the tvfool radar report collums under the headings of , Real and (Virt).

Virtual Channels are in most cases , the Analog channel number and analog channel that the Tv station was transmitting on before the change to Digital transmission.

Some Tv stations kept the old Analog channel number , the reason is Channel Branding , the Tv station has been using a number for many years so they keep it even though the Tv station may be transmitting on a different digital channel now.

As to the CS2 or CS4 I stated what they are and as to the CS2 Complete I stated what it is.
Other Advisors can give there recommendations if they choose.
As always you can choose the course of action on what you think is best.

As to the Simple receiver converter boxes , the reason for recommending them is because they are designed to receive the Digital Tv channels and convert them to the older Analog standard.

The older Analog standard Is Not high definition and Will Not display high definition picture.

The Simple digital converter boxes convert all digital signals (low definition digital or high definition digital) to Analog low definition for picture display on a Analog low definition Tv.

The Digital converter boxes that are listed that do more will provided a high definition signal to -> digital high definition Tv or monitor.

And the supply a low definition signal to a Analog Tv.

Thanks for your patient replies. As you mentioned, I did not understand the difference between Clearstream CS2 and a CS2V antenna until you pointed it to me. Sorry. I plan to buy a CS2V Complete. I also plan to stop by Walmart to pick up a DTV box.

Thanks for taking your time to reply.
