Antenna Recommendation Needed

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1ddadf6dc97d70

Currently I have a cheap outdoor antenna that doesn't pull in channel 19.1 very well.

Channel 19 is real channel 10, which is VHF. Being that it's just 10 miles LOS, your antenna is likely UHF only. Any idea what model it is, to confirm?

You would do well with a simple HD7000R, which is about $35 or so. It will easily pull VHF & UHF. Aim it south east and you're good to go. So long as the view is clear of trees and buildings. Be sure to rescan once you do.

As elmo has already pointed out, you need an antenna with both UHF and VHF capability. At the risk of sounding harsh, I would scrap the HD-2805, even if it's not yet fallen apart. A Winegard HD7694P would do a far better job... and no amplifier needed either.

Be sure to avoid trees or other obstructions if possible.

An upgrade to maximum Digital Tv stations/channels reception at your location is install a Winegard HD7082P antenna Above The Peak Of The Roof in such a manner that the roof and house do not block reception to the south east.

Aim the HD7082P antenna at about 145 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a simple common 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a simple common 4 way splitter.

____________

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , do a good job of , absorbing , multi-path/reflecting , blocking , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to install the HD7082P antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will Automatic channels scan for cable tv channels.

Do not channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.

____________

Digital Tv Tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

Do a Double Rescan.
