Antenna Recommendation - Virginia

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...5ed690e906fa83

I am replacing antennas that are original to our house (~20 years old). They are in bad shape, but I still get decent reception. I figured that if I upgrade, it can only get better.

We live exactly halfway between Richmond, VA and Charlottesville, VA (~30-35 miles to each). I get most channels right now, but signal is somewhat weak on some depending on day, weather, etc.

I would like to get all stations I currently get (which are most stations in red and yellow). I don't get 65.1 on a regular basis and I don't get 27 or 16 at all. I would like to get them, if possible.

I would like to get signal to 2 TV's right now and possibly to a 3rd TV in the future. I would like to put the antenna in the attic if possible. I have tall trees close to sides of house but in front and back of house trees are 100 yards away and we live on a hill so the house is elevated a bit.

Please let me know if you need anymore info. Thanks for your help!

ALL questions and answers about broadcast tv reception and More.

The following is a Teleview recommendation for broadcast Tv reception.

A Simple reception situation.

The antenna Will Not be in the attic.

Above The Roof , install a Clear Stream 2 Complete UHF/VHF antenna aimed at about 315 degree magnetic compass direction.

http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...VHF-Combo.html.

Remove the - reflector screen - from the CS2 Complete so the antenna will receive both directions , Richmond and Charlottesville Digital Tv stations/channels.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter , use no amplifier.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , Channel Master CM 3412 distribution amplifier.

For 3 or 4 Tv's connected use a CM 3414 distribution amplifier.

Here are some above the roof antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/9809911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.channelmasterstore.com.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including you own house.

It is best to install the CS2 Complete at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind of obstructions in the directions of reception to the north west and south east.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Back of the house faces east (to Richmond) and front of the house faces west (to Charlottesville).

Why does the attic not work?

Some Tv transmissions at your location are weak signal strength.

As always , attics at best will reduce signal strength.

Start with the antenna in the attic , if ,
WVAW ABC.
WAHU FOX and MyTvNetwork and This Tv.
WRID Daystar.
WVPY PBS.
Are not received then move the antenna to above the roof.

Is it hard to remove the reflector screen? Is it held on by clips or something like that?

The reflector screen is held on with metal clips , easy to remove.

Are you searching for a way to not get Tv reception??
