Whay type is this?

Can someone identify this antenna? If so, is it suitable or can you tell if it could be customized for hdtv reception? It came with the house when we bought over 10 years ago.
Thanks for your time.

Tv antennas and Tv reception

First: All Tv Antennas are HDTV Antennas , All Tv Antennas are Non HDTV Antennas , All Tv Antennas are Analog Tv Antennas , All Tv Antennas Receive what ever Tv Signal Is Transmitted. The antenna shown in the picture is a very old all channel antenna , looks in good condition , however is beyond it's useful service life. I recommend install a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp aimed at about 349 degree magnetic compass. Two Tv stations might not be received because the stations are weak and are being received on the side of the antenna , WPXA-DT channel 51 ION and WKSY-LD channel 22 Retro Tv Network. I recommend install the HD7698P antenna CPA-19 Preamp and see if WPXA and WKSY are received. Might require a second antenna. I recommend install the antenna and see what happens first. then report back here to this post. All the networks such as , NBC , ABC , CBS , PBS , CW , and more , will be received with the HD7698P/CPA-19. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some antenna mounts . http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html. Buy the ronard mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box. Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.winearddirect.com , http://www.amazon.com. New RG-6 coax will be used out side.

A rotor can be used to turn the antenna to receive WPXA/WKSY however turning the tv antenna is slow and not channel surfing friendly and there will be disagreements about where the antenna is pointed. I recommend a two antenna set up if required.

Minimum 3 tv's to be connected, would like 4 maybe 5, if reception would permit.

The current antenna is mounted via pole from ground. Do you think that be used for new Wingard antenna - bypassing new mounts?

What's your best guesstimate of how many channels you think I would be able to get w/one antenna.

Thanks

Yes the antenna mast that is in place now can be used. The HD7698P/CPA-19 , should provide enough signal to supply signals to , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , Tv's using only the splitter that is required for the number of Tv's. If one Tv then no splitter , If 2 Tv's then a 2 way splitter , If 3 Tv's then a 3 way splitter , If 4 Tv's then a 4 way splitter. If more then 4 Tv's then install a Channel Master CM 3418 distribution amplifier in place of the splitters. http://www.channelmasterstore.com. Channel Master also has digital converters that convert the digital signal to a analog signal for older analog tv's and the newest converter has 2 digital tuners a DVR and All Manner of inputs and outputs.

Quad shied RG-6 coax is not required , Standard RG-6 coax is OK. Super fantastic gold plated HD wiz bang splitters that cost $49.95 are not required. A simple common splitter will be Ok. Yes you can use Quad shield if you like and Yes you can pay $49.95 for splitters if you like , they will also work Ok.

I do my best to provide information that is straight forward to the point and as close to the truth as possible. I do my best to not leave any room for misinformation and , wide eyed wild eyed speculation. When the HD7698P antenna is aimed at about 349 degree magnetic compass , Tv stations WKSY and WPXA are located on the side and at an angle on the side and back of the antenna. I am not saying that the stations will not be received , what I am saying is the stations might not be received , a lot depends on the local conditions , like , trees obstructing the reception in those directions or buildings obstructing those directions. As Always , when the Tv antenna is installed and aimed at the starting aim direction , the Tv antenna is then turned to the left and right to obtain the best reception , most digital Tv's have a signal strength meter that can be used to adjust the antenna.

The Tv or Tv's Must Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes called the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv/s menu because the digital broadcast tv channels are transmitted through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna. Do Not scan for cable Tv channels.
