Antenna help in WV

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...4033c077e82493

I currently have an 20+year old large yagi antenna (make unknown) on a 50' antenna pointed 320 magnetic, with one tv on 100' RG6. I live in a wooded area which I am sure does not help with reception. I am getting the following channels with new Vizio tv and no amplifier or preamplifier..25.1 NBC/31.1 PBS/33.3 WITF/42 (fuzzy)/60.1 ION.

I can live with what I have but would like to pick up WHSV or another one of the ABC affiliates and maybe split the signal to add one or two more tvs. I guess Fox and CBS are probably out of the question.

New antenna/pre-amp/amp/rotator..all possibilities. If getting the ABC affiliates is not possible then I would be open to suggestions to improve what I already have.

Suggestions? Thank you so much!

John

Tv Reception with Tv antennas

This recommendation is based on the 'current' Pending Applications Included for digital tv stations channels. The tv stations starting at WHSV have adjacent channel warnings and co-channel warnings , however the antennas I recommend are very directional and should receive the stations they are aimed at and reject interference from other stations. Ok , I evaluated and researched this up one side and down the other. Install 2 antennas. The first antenna is a Winegard HD7698P antenna Winegard HDP269 preamp aimed at about 235 degree magnetic compass , for the reception of , WHSV digital channel ABC and digital sub channels FOX and MYTv Network and WWPX 12 ION and W08EE-D 8 PBS. . . The second antenna is also a HD7698P antenna with a HDP269 preamp and this one is aimed at about 38 degree magnetic compass for the reception of , WHTM digital channel 10 ABC and sub channel RTV , and WGAL digital channel 31 NBC and sub channel This Tv. Some other digital tv stations will be received , however I think these are the main ones you are after. . The antennas and preamps and coax will be separate all the way to the location of the tv , The separate antenna systems will be connected to a AB27RS remote control A/B antenna switch and the output of the switch is connected to the tv.

I do not think that WUSA CBS will be receivable , the signal is very weak and I think that adjacent channel and co channel interference will be to much , however you can turn the first HD7698P antenna to about 145 degree magnetic compass and test the reception. Also tv stations are adding new digital sub channels and a station close to your location might add CBS.

Electron's suggestions are very good. However, instead of replacing the existing Yagi, I would keep it in order to maintain reception of WHAG, the local news source. So, you would have your existing feed plus the setup for Harrisonburg into the A/B switch.

I don't see any practical way to get a CBS affiliate.

Install the 2 HD7698P antennas and you will receive NBC and PBS as I listed in the list. The 20+ year old yagi has reached the end of the useful life span.

WHAG and WWPB will likely be received on one or both of the sides of the HD7698P antennas because the transmitters are close and the signals are strong.
