Worth an attempt? or let it go and move on..

Good afternoon all,

I live in Woodstock GA, a suburb of Atlanta about 30 miles to the NW of the downtown. I have (had?) an eave mounted Winegard 7084P that suffered a direct hit from a 10ft tree branch two weeks ago, bending the entire structure down immediately in front of the reflector.

As a result, whereas I used to receive Channels 2,5,8 (sometimes pixelated), 11 (ditto although usually clearing), 14, 36, 46, 69 , including their subsidiary channels (e.g. 5.1) and various specialty, shopping and Christian channels, now Channel 2 is snow, 5 and 8 are missing entirely, 11 & 14 are absolutely beautiful (stunning clarity), and the only other channels that are showing up are 47 (?) and 57(?).

Before I try and clamber up onto the roof, does anyone have an opinion as to whether it is likely that the antenna can be 'bent ' back into working condition, or is it more likely that it needs to be sent off to the great array in the sky, and a new one purchased to replace it? Please keep in mind that I am a single, middle- aged female whose only likely weapon here will be a hammer and other hand tools.

My goal is mainly to be able to watch football, so Fox, NBC and CBS are the targets.

Thank you in advance for your input!

Welcome back. Sorry to hear the bad news. This is your previous thread, but your tvfool report is no longer on the server. I saved an image of it in the attachment.
Loss of channels
http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=15591

Is this estimated report close enough?
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...e2cbeee029b2f3

The 7084 is a BIG wide antenna because it covers VHF-Low channels 2 to 6, in addition to VHF-High (7-13) and UHF (14-51), Those are real channel numbers, not the virtual channel numbers (which are usually given in decimal form to avoid confusion, like 11.1) that you have been using. It is the real channel numbers that determine what antenna to use.

The 7084 could be replaced with the HD7698P for equivalent performance without VHF-Low, but you might be able to replace it with the smaller HD7694P if you could get it a little higher. You have a lot of trees in your area. Let's see what the other guys say.

2.1 and 8.1 are two of your weaker channels and a preamp would probably be overloaded by WATC, so the gain for them has to come from the antenna only.

Even at 50 feet WSB ABC is still a weaker 2Edge signal.

And WRDA-FM might be strong enough to interfere with ABC:

Rabbit73,

Yes, that report is pretty much exact. I appreciate your help with this. I really don't want to miss the start of the regular season!

So if I use the HD7698P, then I should be able to get real channels 10,19 and 27, if I understand you correctly?

Yes, you should.

The HD7084P has been discontinued. An all-channel replacement is the HD8200U which is even bigger has a little more gain.

The HD7698P looks comparable to the 8200, but it doesn't cover VHF-Low, real channels 2 to 6.
