Need Equipment Suggestions Please!!!

Hi,

I have just recently cancelled cable and decided to try installing an outdoor antenna. I have no clue on what I need. There is an existing Bell satellite dish near my chimney on the roof, can I use the existing mount/pole. Also, while I was on the "signal analysis" site, I saw an ad for the LAVA Antenna HD 2805. It claims to have 150 mile range. Is that true?

Here is a link to my signal analysis:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...2df961708e8d45

Thanks in advance for your help.

Danny

As always , any antenna add that claims 150 mile reception range is a straight out Lie. Those cheap flimsy china antennas are flooding the market because the profits are Very High , money talks , do not allow them to talk you out of your money.

Adds are adds , almost all web sites now days are flooded with , adds , adds , adds , and more adds , Truth / Lies , makes no difference , the name of the game is , sell , sell , sell , sell , buy , buy , buy , buy , ego , ego , ego , ego , image , image , image , image ,

A Simple reception situation.

For reception of the Canada and USA Digital Tv stations/channels down the tvfool Pending Applications Included Channel List , down to and including , WNYO-TV UHF channel 49 MyNetwork.

Above the roof install a Winegard HD7698P antenna with - no preamp - aimed at about 185 degree magnetic compass direction.

The 185 aim direction is a in between aim direction for the reception of the Tv stations to the , south west , south , south east.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Some common above the roof antenna mounts are , tripod antenna mount , eave antenna mount , chimney antenna mount.

The existing pole mount must be strong and sturdy or do not use it , HD7698P antenna is a Big antenna.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter , no antenna amplifier.

For 2 Tv's connected use a common simple 2 way splitter , no antenna amplifier.

For 3 Tv's connected use a common simple 3 way splitter , no antenna amplifier.

WNYO is weak of signal strength , If not received on the 3 Tv's connected , then install a Channel Master CM3414 distribution amplifier.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.saveandreplay.com , http://www.trentondistributors.com , http://www.canadapost.ca/shopper , http://www.amazon.ca , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.channelmasterstore.com.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions.

It is best to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception to the south east , south , south west.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channel' or 'Antenna CHannels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

I got 20 channels, but with a much smaller antenna - Channel Master 4221 HD. Can you suggest another antenna either than the Wineguard HD7698P (too big) that would allow me to get more channels?

Also, I did install the Wineguard HD7698P, then how many more if any channels would I receive?

Thanks...

I installed a Channel Master 4221 HD with a preamp and got 20 channels. Because of the size of the Wineguard, I would prefer to not install this. Is there any other antenna that would help to get more channels? Also, if I were to install the Wineguard, how many more channels would I get? Thanks.

hi Danny,

Nice channel line up. You are getting almost all the channels. You can get 11 CHCH channel if you include VHF antenna in your setup or just make slight modification in DB4e to make it more strong in VHF reception.

Thanks

What angle would you recommend? I was told to point it at 161 degrees by the saveandreplay associate.

Thanks.

Hi Danny,

Try 200 degree. You should be able to get CHCH plus all other channels.

Thanks

Looking at the receivable Digital Tv stations channels both Canada and USA it looks like , WBBZ-TV REAL VHF channel 07 , virtual number (67.1-2-3-4) at 169 degree magnetic compass direction is very weak and is the Tv station to try for.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WBBZ-TV

WBBZ is very close to the in between aim direction that I recommended of 185 degree magnetic compass direction.

As always , the starting aim direction is the --> starting aim direction.

The antenna is then adjusted if required for best reception.

The 185 degree magnetic compass direction is a in between direction. In between the Tv stations to the , south west , south , south east.

And the 185 aim direction is close to the , WBBZ , 169 degree aim direction.
