Question Help with antenna selection

Hello all,

I am wondering what the best antenna selection would be for my situation:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1dda0a9288dbd2

I am on the 4th floor of an apartment and my window faces north east. I can position the antenna from my balcony to face south east, but there may be a tree kind of obstructing the line of sight once the weather gets warmer and the leaves grow.

I am only feeding one TV and it will be maximum 10 feet away from the antenna.

I saw a website that recommended the CM4228.

This is located in Ottawa if anyone is wondering.

Thanks!

So that I can recommend a antenna/s.

What is the apartment building construction??

Wood with wood or vinyl siding and composition asphalt shingles is the best for indoor reception.

The following is a Non Complete list of building construction that will further reduce and block Tv reception.

Concrete , concrete blocks , concrete roof tiles , bricks , rocks , metal siding , metal roof , metal backed insulation , radiant barrier metal backed insulation , metal doors , solar panels , and etc. .

What is the apartment building construction??

A small all channel outdoor antenna such as the Winegard HD7000R is ideal if you are able to mount and point it NE with out obstructions in the way.

Depending on the building construction, an indoor antenna may perform well for you. The TERK HDTVi (not the HDTVa) would be a worthy option.

The building contstruction is steel, brick, and concrete. I am unsure of the roof - I am on the 4th floor and the building is 15 floors.

Thanks for the recommendations. I just wanted to add I got my hands on a Wineguard SS-3000 to test indoor reception and I get a few channels. CBC comes in fine, along with a few others of the french channels. OMNI, CTV, and City are really flaky though depending on weather.

It sounds as if the building construction is going to force you to mount outdoors or at a window. The concrete and steel are notorious for making reception difficult indoors.

Indoor/inbuilding and attic Is/Are Not a Tv reception friendly environment and Never Will Be a reception friendly environment.

The building construction is.

Multi-path/reflecting-tv signals bouncing all around -> not good for Tv reception.

Absorbing -> not good for Tv reception.

Blocking -> not good for Tv reception.

____________________________________________

At the Tv location , a A/B Remote control antenna switch will be connected to the 2 Separate antenna coaxes.

The Remote control A/B antenna switch will change from one antenna to the other antenna.

_____________________

Do Not try and eliminate the A/B antenna switch.

Do Not connect both antennas on to one coax at the same time.
Both antennas on the same coax at the same time will produce Bad Reception.
The 2 antennas will cross talk and reception will be much worse.

For this 2 Separate antennas with a A/B antenna switch to work , the Digital Tv must have the , Channel/Rescan/Scan/Add Feature that makes it possible to put more channels into the tuners memory with out erasing the first channels that are scaned into memory.
