Advice on choosing right antenna

Hi,
I would like advice on choosing an antenna. Can I use an indoor one? My only option for mounting an outdoor one would be on a 5ft mast from an old directv dish mount. If I cannot mount on the roof (one story house we are renting), would it be better to use an indoor one rather than an outdoor only 5 ft above ground level?

Here is a link to my report

I have trees around my house but most are below roof level as I am on a hill. Thanks for any advice!

For reception of Some digital broadcast Tv stations/channels. Put a TERK HDTVa antenna in a west facing window.

Aim the HDTVa antenna at about 281 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim indoor and outdoor antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

A Simple Reception Situation.

All of the Receivable , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , Without Duplicating Any Networks , are of 1 Direction , 281 degree magnetic compass direction.

Many , many , many , many , many , Digital Tv channels will be received.

Install a Channel Master CM2016 antenna in such a manner that the roof and house are not impeding and blocking reception to the , west north , at 281 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

A antenna system amplifier will most likely not be required.

However you can try reception , with and without , a Winegard LNA-100 'Boost' antenna system amplifier.

A antenna system amplifier ->Is Not a Substitute<- for placing the CM2016 antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the direction of reception including the obstruction of the roof and house.

The Winegard DS3000 , J pole type antenna mount makes a good mount for the CM2016 antenna.

Disconnect and Remove All passive and active satellite system componets such as and not limited to , multi-switches , multi-plexers , combiners , separators , splitters , amplifiers , power injectors , power supplies , and etc. .

Yes the satellite system coaxes can be used and other coaxes that are on/in the house can be used for the antenna system.

The Antenna/antenna system Can Not be connected to any coaxes that have active cable services , do not connect to active cable Tv service , do not connect to active cable internet service , do not connect to active cable phone service.

Any active cable services Must Be on Separate coax , from the antenna system.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative effect on Broadcast Tv reception and so buildings including your own roof and house and other obstructions.

The Best Practice is to install the CM2016 antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house and other obstructions.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channels scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select , 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for channels.
