Antenna help

Hello everyone,

First of all thanks goes to everyone who takes the time to read and of course respond. The internet truly is a wonderful place.

My tvfool report is:
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...d2438ccda7ccc9

I've read through a number of forum posts and unless I'm mistaken my report seems to indicate that I don't have much in the way of TV reception. For my report I didn't indicate antenna height because at the moment I'm not prepared or able to mount one at any type of altitude. So we're talking indoor through a window or whatever might work best. Any tips or suggestions on how to get started with OTA?

Many thanks

Sam

Update, I know that I can get at least CJOH-TV channel 8 because I used the method to construct an antenna from this website

http://apeweek.hubpages.com/hub/a-fr...atch-free-hdtv

The quality was quite good but I wouldn't classify it as HD. End result is that I know I can get at least one channel, so the question now becomes if a proper antenna for this location would be suitable for additional channels.

In your reception environment, without an outside antenna, I think you are likely doomed to pick up the 3 or 4 green/yellow channels at most. Realize that CJOH is a VHF channel, which operates on a different (lower) bandwidth from the UHF channels WCFE, WNPI or WWNY. So your homemade antenna may not work so well at UHF, if it works ok at VHF.

I think you pretty much have to place your bets and take your chances with a real indoor antenna. Antennas Direct makes some nice indoor antennas - https://www.antennasdirect.com/store...-antennas.html - maybe you could start there.

Thank you for the advice timgr. I realize that this cardboard antenna is just a temp solution. Long term I will be looking for some quality antenna setup and I appreciate the link. I will use this going forward.
