http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...2df9799bab454f

I am looking for a new antenna
we get pretty bad stroms with high winds in the ft. campbell area
my channmaster 2018 turned to spaghetti on the mast in our last storm.
and a winegard 7015 before that

I also have trounble with channels 8 and 36
I was thinking about AntennaCraft HD850 or a 290

what do you think can you suggest something

i known i do not need low vhf and I hate the 4228hd
i have a friend that had one and it wound up in the trash

I am tired of the cheep junk they make now
my grandfather had a combo radio shack vhf/ufh for years in central michigan

which one will hold up
i dont care about the price

To keep the wind load down, I would use a two bay antenna with a single dipole High VHF element connected thru an amplifier with seperate UHF/VHF inputs.

The Antennas Direct CS2 Complete with a Winegard AP 2870 amplifier would work quite well.

A much stronger antenna with the same reception charactetistics would be the all fiberglass Triple Play antenna with the VHF add on. available at www.tripleplayantenna.com.

The Antennas Direct , ClearStream 2 Complete UHF/VHF antenna , http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...VHF-Combo.html , Has a -->Built In Combiner<-- that combines the UHF and VHF parts of the antenna to 1 coax output of the antenna.

There is No Requirement for a preamplifier that has separate inputs for UHF and VHF. There is NO requirement for a AP2870 preamp that has separate inputs.

I recommend a , -> Heavy Duty <- Winegard HD7696P aimed at about 145 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antennas/pointing/pointing.html.

The HD7696P antenna will receive All of the , Digital Current Plus Pending Applications Included Broadcast Tv stations/channels in the the , Green and Yellow reception zones of the tvfool channel list.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter. No antenna amplifier.

For 2 Tv's connected use a common simple 2 way splitter. No antenna amplifier.

For 3 Tv's connected use a common simple 3 way splitter. No antenna amplifier.

Here are some Strong and Sturdy antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard/ychim.html.

If you choose to install one of the Strong and Sturdy ronard antenna mounts , buy them at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here are some but not the only places to buy antenna and ect. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com.

As always trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house.

It is best to install the antenna in a manner that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the direction of reception.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

If you were asking, 'to get all possible signals', I would favor the much larger Winegard.

But given your experience with wind damage, the compact antennas (CS2 w/VHF or the Triple Play) are the direction I would go.
