Help with Antenna, tuner, etc

Hello all,
I am very new to OTA technology, so I am hoping to get some help. Below is my report from TV Fool. Can someone please recommend an antenna/tuner/etc for me? I would like to install a mast style on my roof. I was looking at antennasdirect, but I do not know if I would need some that rotates... stationary, etc.

Thank you all in advance!

Your TV Fool report appears to be based on a default antenna height of 10' above ground. Looking at the path profile of WABC, it looks as if roof mounting (20' to 30' AGL) could improve your report and alter the antenna recommendation(s) significantly. Please generate and post a TVFR using 25' AGL. (I suspect you have a very nice shot toward NYC).

Conditions certainly get better as you increase the antenna mounting height. Feel free to experiment with high AGL values if you think you can mount higher than 25'.

If 25' AGL is the highest practical mounting for you, consider a Winegard HD7698P or HD7084P pointed toward NYC. You can expect the strong signals from the opposite direction to be received also. If you are going to drive a splitter, you'll want to also install an Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp close to the antenna. If you can't find a CPA-19, the Winegard HDP-269 would be another option.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)

Many , many , many , many , many , many , Digital Tv stations/channels will be received.

Install a Winegard HD7084P antenna aimed at about 272 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Here are some strong and sturdy antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com.
___________

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter and no preamplifier.

For 2 or more Tv's connected use a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

Buy the HFS splitters at , http://www.solidsignal.com , or , http://www.hollandelectronics.com.
__________

Trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Digital Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to install the HD7084P antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

At your location the directions of reception are , west , north , north east , east.
__________

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

In the Tv menu select the 'Air Channels'/'Antenna Channels' to scan for channels.

DO NOT Channel Scan For Cable Tv Channels.

Thanks for the help! I installed the antenna and preamp today. I am able to get some channels, but not able to get FOX or NBC. I guess I have to do some tweaking and more research....

------>To Prove Reception.<------

Connect the simplest way.

Connect a Looooong coax to the HD7084P antenna and run the Looooong coax through a open door or window direct to one Digital Tv.

No ground blocks , No splitters , No couplers , No nothing.

If you have the CPA-19 preamp , try reception without and with the CPA-19 connected.

Digital Tuners can develop Digital Glitches that are not cleared out with a simple channel scan.

Do a Double Channel Scan.

http://www.dtv.gov/rescan.html.

Aim the HD7084P antenna at about 272 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

As always , the starting aim direction of the antenna is the --> starting aim direction.

The aim direction can be changed to find the aim direction with the best reception.

Most Digital Tv's have a Signal Strength Meter and some Digital Tv's also have a Signal Quality Meter.
